Trying to decide what system to get my 8 yr old for Christmas

Xbox 360 or PS3? He loves sports games mainly football. Thoughts of suggestions.

I recommended an XBOX for a guy with two little girls the other day...mainly for Kinect.

Xbox is much user friendly especially for someone that young they won't understand the ps3 were you have to download all your games to it from the disc and what not whereas with the xbox you put the disc in the console and roll with it

That's not true. You do not have to install games on PS3. I've actually used the install feature on the 360 but never on my PS3. I do agree with the choice to get the kid a 360 bc it is a little easier to use though.

I first got a playstation and have always been loyal to playstation since. Did any of you switch after you got your first console?

I'd suggest the Wii first. A lot of kid and family games on it, and kids seem to like the little characters they can create and play with.
After that, the 360. It's simple to use, easy to find what you're looking for, and I personally like the feel of the controller.

PS2, PS3, and now 360, like the 360 the best so far
Also have a wii, but doesnt get much use
ETA: I suggest the 360 though, because he will stop playing the wii sooner than a 360

I've never owned a playstation.
I'd also suggest the 360 over other consoles.

Go with the Xbox and Kinect bundle. Just as many kid friendly games on Xbox as Wii and you will have more options for other games for you when your son isn't playing.
No idea why everyone is listing their consoles, but ok...

360 with kinect is probably the easier thing to use for an 8 year old
wii is a bit more complicated then it seems for a kid. PS3 is more geared towards adults with the layout and the fact u have to use blue tooth stuff with it
