They used a first round pick and I think another pick they traded away to get him. They want to get the most they can out of him, whether that's as a backup trying to learn the system or a starter.

They have to give him 8.5 in the contract.. which is 3 years. He's still a year away.

They can cut him anytime they want. They'll just have to pay him whatever the contract stipulates in that situation.

$11.25 million / 5 = 2.25 million a year
2.25 million x 4 = 9 million - I messed up on the years, it should have been 4 not 3, but they can let him go during the 4th year.
ETA - They don't have to wait that long - they can just pay him the rest of the 8.7 at this point, but why not use him for as long as possible instead of just paying him off..?

Yeah, but they might just end up getting rid of him earlier than that if it doesn't work out. They might want to help with caproom or something. Honestly, what they are paying him isn't all that much money relatively speaking. It's like they're paying a backup 2-3 mil a year, which is no worse than the Eagles paying Vince Young to be their backup for $5 mil a year.

I know that this thread has pretty much become a chat room but I have looking at all news related to arkham city yesterday.
I saw that it will feature a new game + mode. I have no idea what that it is.
