A gamer usually likes content from particular studios. Rarely you enjoy just 1 game from that developer but it does happen.
List your Top 3 favorite developers.
1. Valve - (does need to reboot LFD2, HL and Portal )
2. Bethesda - (this is as a publisher and dev, so counting iD)
3. Blizzard (needs to revive Diablo)

1. Nintendo - Most creative, best catalog, Pretty much always excited for a game
2. Bethesda - Most immersive
3. Valve - Want more of everything, but they are busy raking in cash with Steam.
HM: Squaresoft - Based on Nostalgia, they've lacked lately. Bioware. Blizzard. Retro Studios.

You can't count id under Bethesda, that's cheating.
It's hard to think about this but I guess I have to think who do I pay attention to when they announce a game regardless of the specifics.

1. Ubisoft......whatever. I love their games.

If we're talking about my favorite of all time, then that's:
1. Nintendo (no explanation needed)
2. Capcom (Megaman / X, Resident Evil, Street Fighter 2 and it's various sequels, Marvel vs Capcom, Powerstone, Bionic Commando, Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, Okami, and countless others)
3. LucasArts (Monkey Island, Indiana Jones, Tie-Fighter / X-Wing, Dark Forces, The Dig, Maniac Mansion / DOTT, etc.)
If we're talking favorite "today", then it's:
