Tips on Cities Skylines?
Just bought the PS4 Edition and looking for suggestions on how others plan their cities. I watched a ton of let’s plays on YouTube when the game first came out but never committed to purchasing.

Just got into Move The Mouse’s playthrough on his channel and it finally put me over the hump. Anyone here still play?

I was pretty disappointed in the learning curve. I played every version of Sim City since the 1990s (yeah, I'm old, buddy, wanna fight about it?).

The traffic problems that invariably come up in Skylines appeared to only be solvable with the extreme "no stop intersection" layout to have anything like a dense city.

I enjoyed it for what it was, but quickly became frustrated by those limitations. I may give it another try. I've been playing a lot of Frostpunk lately and may be getting back into city design mode.

Not sure about PS4 but for PC, Imperial Jedi is a great watch. Sam Bur is another. Sam is a wizard with traffic.

Roundabouts and one ways help a ton. Once you figure out the vehicle behavior it gets much easier. You can basically force cars to take certain routes. Decent public transit helps too.

My traffic issues used to be terrible. I'd end up just going with bigger and wider roads...which actually ends up making it worse. It takes work to figure out traffic but once you do it becomes second nature.

My PC used to be able to run it with no issues. Idk why it won’t run it anymore. I wish I could say the console edition scratches the itch for me, but the vanilla game is so bland. I know they have mod support but it’s very limited on console.

Don't know what it was but I tired of this sort of quickly. It just felt too easy at times. Traffic was the only issue to tackle at all next to grabage trucks. Crime/fire/education etc were nothing. I had so much money the budget wasn't a problem after the first few thousand people.

Liked the older SimCity much better.

As for traffic all I read is roundabouts, 3 way T intersections, and mass trans Subway will fix it.

1 ways are your friend. And be sure to plan your city around a clean water source.

Other than that have at it.

Fun game, but it does become too easy once you figure out how to lay out your traffic.

Simcity 3000 is still my favorite. Wish they'd continue down that path and forget the cheesiness that was Simcity 5.

Ya the more I think about it the more it bothers me. This game isn't a city simulator at all. They could have just skipped the BS and gave you prebuilt cities where you have to fix the traffic and you'd essentially have the same game.

re: Tips on Cities Skylines?
That's been the issue since the old Simcity days. After designing an area you were done with it.

The new area had no impact to the rest of your gameplay outside the additional population.

It would add so much longevity and replayability to the game if unique situations arose based on your city size and layout.

And a mayor of a town of 5,000 residents has a much different job than one of 5 million.

This aspect needs to be incorporated into the next game.

Got my city up to 150,000 on the Xbox version but after that it was hell trying to keep everything in check.

My problems are mainly with workforce. I can never have enough housing to not have 10 industrial buildings shutting down for lack of workers.
