re: Things that you have been killed by in Skyrim

The big 2hand weapon types that take half my hp in one swing while i'm distracted with their underlings.. i.e. that keep to the west of whiterun with the bandit highlander or whatever she is.

Flame Atronach just blew me away.

Before I found someone to feed on to lessen my vampirism I saved then decided to go full Postal on the Jarl and his court. I had run through the town, so all the guards from the town ended up coming in as well. They put me down quickly because no one likes vampires.

Apparently Sookie Stackhouse did not make it into this game.

Having fought with a frost dragon, only to have it attack a bunch of mages nearby who promptly attacked me(killed them easily enough), then chased its arse down and finally killed it, only to die from a single frost troll swipe almost immediately.

Also a giant (sent me into orbit), and a bandit thug or two

I didn't even want to fight the giant. I just wanted a closer look. He knocked me so high I could see the whole world from up there.

Jarl Balgruuf the Greater and his guardsmen. After talking to him on one occasion, I dropped my controller and accidentally attacked him. I shite you not I was dead in less than 5 seconds. 10 guards attacked me at once.

Alright, so posting in this thread jinxed me. I've been killed a shitton of times now.

Some fire thing killed me, I kept attacking the same giants who killed me about five times, then I climbed the mountain next to Whitefall and some dark mage thing came out of the ground and had his way with me.

Save often. That is my biggest piece of advice for playing Skyrim. Save before going into a dungeon. Save after making it through a rough part of a dungeon. Save after leveling up. Save after killing a dragon. Save after completing a quest.

Et cetera, et cetera. I'm obsessive about it, only because I've been screwed by forgetting a few times, now.
