Is anyone buying this game
I was going to skip but the reviews are a lot better than I was expecting so I'll probably buy eventually

It's too confusing with all new Pokémon
I tried sword and gave up because I didn't know anything outside of the original 151

Yep.
An open world Pokémon game seems like an awesome idea

Yep. Purchased and installed. Been waiting for this game since the first trailer dropped. First time I'm getting back into the franchise since Gold/Silver Glad they changed up the formula, and the reviews / streams I've been watching have been very positive.

Downloading my preorder now. Since little STLDawg got into Pokémon, I’ve rediscovered my love of the game. I’d last played silver but have lately played Sword, Shining Pearl and new snap.

I played from 12:30 last night to about 4:30 this morning. I love all the new mechanics and QoL updates. Catching and fighting so nice. Wild spawns kinda challenging. I like the crafting aspect. I like the “challenges” required to complete dex entries. I spent hours doing that last night. Crafting balls as I needed. Potions too.
Huge step in right direction.
And to those saying “new mon, only 151”
I’ll agree that some are ridiculous but the ones I’ve been encountered so far are all reasonable.
I got to where you can ride the deer and stopped before i fight the Kleavor thing

I’m only a few hours in but I really enjoy the difficulty in this game so far. You can’t just over level your starter and be fine. What starter did y’all choose? I can’t say no to my first ever starter cyndaquil.

Only a couple hours in but really like it so far.
I was going to choose Cyndaquil, just because of Hisuian Typhlosion's ghost/fire typing. But I really liked Decidueye's final form so I went with that. Along with his typing being easier for the playthrough.
ETA: And for those like me who were confused on how the Pokedex Research level for each Pokemon is calculated - each "challenge" gives you 1 point, but challenges on rows with the red "up-arrows" count as 2 points. They may have mentioned this in the tutorial but I don't remember it.

Yep, this wasn't explained very well in the game.
Otherwise, I am really enjoying this game. In fact, might be the most I've enjoyed a Pokemon game in a long time. This gameplay loop is much more addicting than the traditional linear structure. Really hope they stick with this going forward.
I started with Oshawott btw.

Because those are the only ones that matter.
Blue/Red/Yellow FTW

I started with rowlett. Like the final form.
I caught a shiny paras about 5 hours in, hour into my second sessions.
I did the ponyta quest which is nice then hears the same noise and flash for the paras. Immediately saved game then caught it.
Now have gold parasect

So far this game is pretty fun It does seem like it's settling into a run of go talk to this person, now talk to this person, now fight a trainer battle, now go talk to this person, now throw food at shiny pokemon. Now grind pokedex until you unlock the next area to rinse/repeat.
The side quests aren't particularly great. Most of them are "go catch this pokemon" or "go complete this page of the pokedex"

Game is too open and lifeless. It’s literally just another boring Pokémon game with a different coat of paint

I’m enjoying myself now. But I can for sure see it getting old.
Does remind me of Breath of the wild. For as awesome of a game as it is I haven’t finished even though I have tried multiple times and love Zelda.

So far for me it's a little more grindy that I had hoped it would be but I'm still enjoying it right now. I'll probably be back into BDSP sooner rather than later to finish up the national pokedex.
