The only way to get extra hearts is through the shrines right?

Shrines and defeating divine beasts, yes

Sleeping in comfy beds at inns and some food or elixirs give temporary yellow hearts.

Make sure to get the hylian armor from the store in kakariko. Then visit the fairy nearby to upgrade it. It's in the same village as Impa..if you haven't gotten it already

Yes, honestly in the future, the true speedrun needs to incorporate the following:

1) Defeat Ganon
2) Get the Master Sword
3) Beat all 4 Divine Beasts
4) Unlock all memories
5) Unlock all the towers

That should be the speed run there. You should be required to have all 5 of these.

Finally beat the game. If you go by 100%, it's taken me 25 hours to complete 1/4 of the game. This game has about a 15-20 hour story. But the entire game is a whole different monster.

God Zelda is such a sweetheart in this game. An actual ending that doesn't low key suck arse.

15-20 hours? I've played that much and only beaten one dungeon. Did you just do the basic quest and that's it?

I haven't even beat one dungeon. I've fallen in love with the shrines so I'm finding those and then going after the korok seeds.

This is why I hate games like this I get so sidetracked from the main story

I basically got the essentials such as the Master Sword, memories, some big side quests and a few special items.

I guess you could say I went for the best possible experience as far as a basic run. But, in all reality, a 20 hour story is still ridiculous, even by RPG standards.

I fricking swam all over Zora's domain in full zoras armor and can't find Mei or the ceremonial spear did find a hinox though

So I went back to great plateau and took out my frustration on Stone Talus and he gave me hella gems.

fricking stealth armor in kakariko costs 1800 rupees total so farming gems ain't bad

went to the island. Tried it about 5 times before finally just porting out and finally starting on the main story and found my first tower to climb where I meat the zora people. I think it's too early for me to be on that island trying to go the route of Leo on The Beach

it's fricking awesome though. it's like an atmospheric playset and brings you back to the opening moments of the game where it is desperation survival with an island/castaway/the beach type feel.

loved it

killed a dragon last night and one of the ginormous four legged horned beasts. played some very clever shrines

this game is approaching GOAT status. it felt like GOAT status from the beginning, but I've played for over 40 hours and it still feels like new, still feels like tons to discover.

the jump button location is bad, and I remapped it but after a few minutes I discovered it is used way less than the climbing/sprint button.

there's an armor specifically designed to protect you against a foe that will one hit kill you even 60 hours into the game, and the total set is like 10,000 rupees PLUS you need certain not too common items for them to be crafted in the first place and then more of those rarish items to upgrayyed them at any fairy fountain

40 hours? Did you get a review copy or something

24x4 = 96

Half of that is is 48. So essentially, you're telling me that you spent on average about 10+ hours a day since the 3rd?

there is so much related to the story (by varying degrees) that are not part of the main quest

I recommend climbing mt lanyaru to everyone.

I can't say enough about the climbing mechanic. whereas skyrim makes you take a path, this game lets you forge your own and encourages discovery. I fast traveled the shite out of skyrim and the designers clearly knew this because so many missions force you on foot.

This game even with a handful of flaws (outside of framerate it's all just nitpicking too) is the best game I've ever played. I've been chasing the dragon for so long to play a game that gives you that "it" feeling while playing and this one does it, and you maintain that sense of awesomeness from beginning to end.

that you can travel directly to the final boss and have a go at him from the very beginning says everything about the freedom you're given and in an era where the best games are essentially quick time adventures.

this game is so awesome that it makes several Zelda titles feel like shite and Zelda is a series where the floor is really high

Friday: 8pm to 4am
Saturday: noon to 4am
Sunday: noon to 2am
Monday and Tuesday: 6 hours

right at 40 and it's not a plus or minus MOE, i'm definitely giving conservative estimates for the last 2 days

so I've been one hit killing guardians (don't want to say how but it's not hard to figure out) and last night I came across one unexpectedly which normally I fight them because i'm hunting them and I stunned it and then discovered you can chop off its legs.

there's variety in how you accomplish things whether it be a shrine or fighting enemies. enemies aren't BONE CRUSHING difficult but if you're not zeroed in they will fricking kill you.

I barely even use the horse that I tamed because I'm just all over the place. Hell, I spent the majority of 2 play sessions just running around like an idiot climbing and exploring before I realized how incredibly side-tracked I was and going back to focus on making some progress. It can definitely get overwhelming, but when I re-focused and started doing some things I was supposed to it's so much fun. I logged out last night at the part where I'm stalking around trying to Snipe the electric guys on the way to the zora people. it's so much fun

it didn't invent open world games though you can argue that either the original or ocarina (for 3d games) did, but it has perfected it

someone made the comment here or in some comment section that skyrim and witcher made these unbelievable open world games and breath of the wild is Nintendo saying "hold my beer" it's true.

if you're running around exploring, you're not sidetracked. you're doing it right. I love that it never tells you "hey, don't forget you need to do x"

I started "hunting" things or seeking out specific things and I had to reset and just start exploring because it only feels overwhelming when you're trying to check things off a list.

i did the memory, close to mr lanyaru , and after hearing the story I was tempted to climb it but it looked awfully big and cold.
