Tried playing BOTW on the WiiU. Now I remember why I shelved it in a closet...the gamepad makes games unplayable. Gonna have to go buy a real controller.

Liked what I saw so far. Really don't like the weapon break thing, but oh well.

all it does is make you try newer weapons

I love it personally. I have to make choices with inventory. just adds another layer and forces me to try new things.

weapons aren't hard to come by.

I'm willing to concede it's the controller, not the game. When a weapon breaks mid-fight, it's a chore to wrestle the gamepad to avoid enemies and fumble around the mini-menu to select another weapon.

The shrines that require you to tilt and move the gamepad around suck.

nope. I think all the major design and gameplay elements are pretty much perfect.

judging by the number of perfect scores it racked up, it's safe to say i'm not the only one.

Is that the Major test of Strength?

Yes, and even upgraded bombs do VERY little damage to him.

oh yeah, that does suck. one of them is unplayable.

one shrine has a useless puzzle and it clearly wasn't caught in testing

one shrine to find it you have to solve a puzzle. it's not what order that's hard to figure out but what to use, and they flat out tell you...ugh.

I think the sheikah finder shouldn't even be available to you before you beat the game. for a game that's kind of a nice change of pace in that it doesn't hold your hand, that's irksome, but you can turn it off.

when you run right up against a wall sometimes the camera follows you and turn it into a brief FP view instead of staying locked at a certain distance

these are all nitpicks though. the game is so big and it hits every major note so perfectly and almost every single little one as well. there isn't much to complain about here.

my game pauses as soon as the mini menu pops up. you must have small hands.

with the shrines being a big part of the dungeon crawling aspect of the game, how are the actual Temples?

Insane?

Tough?

Any badass boss battles?

Can't believe I still don't have this yet

The "temples" are unique. They are all the same in essence, but they all work similar to the stone Temple from MM.

The boss battles are insanely hard. But like anything, if you play it enough times and get used to it, you'll find a strategy that works.

Still salty about what happened to the waifu

Did a couple "mini-bosses" like Lynel. Wasn't too hard, just takes a ton of damage for my shtt gear.

It's kind of disturbing how fricked up Ganon has become. I'm thinking this is tens of thousands of years after the Wind Waker, and that was a fairly sympathetic version of the character. Just how he's devolved into a pure monstrous abomination is kind of sad and if Ganon saw this as his fate, I'm not sure he would have ever gone down the path he did.

Just wait until you come across a Minotaur. Those bastards are hard as frick. Still haven't managed to kill one. I hope they don't rise with the Blood Moon, although I'm guessing they do.

Even with high grade weapons the main boss battles and big time minibosses are hard. Even the retained repetitiveness of previous Zelda boss battles is tough to get around. The main boss battles patterns are a puzzle in and of themselves.

Waterblight only killed me once, but I was lucky that I came armed with a lightning rod, thunder blade, and a dozen shock arrows to weaken him.

I don't get y they call him Calamity Ganon.

An event does not equal an entity?

Yeah I was under equipped when I fought waterblight. Thunderblight was interesting. Literally had to use his own attacks against him to best him.

IMO I look at shrines as heart pieces. The things it took to earn those heart pieces are the puzzles in shrines. Really don't consider it any way part of the dungeon experience.
