Trying to book hotels for a work trip in a few weeks. Would you guys stay in a hotel that was $54 a night, even though it was right by the airport? Would only be for one night.

Sure would.
I flew to Dallas weekly in 2016 for about 3months. Stayed at a shtty RedRoof. I brought sheets with me to sleep on.
Im about saving money on hotels.

Per diem covers it so it's not about saving money. Staying that close makes it so much easier to make an early flight, pretty much walk to the terminal.
