Talk to me about the Xbox One

PC/PS4 owner here. Eventually I'd like to own an Xbox One but when it first hit shelves Microsoft had made so many shitty decisions they scared me off for a time.
Now that I've heard several comments about how they've 'righted the ship' im just wondering about what your experience with it has been. Especially if you're already a PS4/PC owner. Is it that different? Anyone enjoy it more than their ps4?

just stick to your ps4. you seem to have already built up some resentment towards xbox and microsoft.

DRM, resolutiongate, Kinect emphasis, always on and rental restrictions, all-in-one entertainment focus instead of games, etc. need more?

It all comes down to the exclusives. If you want to play Halo, Forza, and GoW but are interested in games like Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break, I'd say it's worth it. I certainly haven't stopped playing my PS4 though. PS4 is the system of choice for multiplats which is 90% of gaming these days

You're that obtuse? I'm literally trying to buy an Xbox here you twat.

I do enjoy the respective exclusives. Loved Halo and the original gears of war.

All that shite is gone, except the all in one entertainment part.
It's a solid product.

Like most have alluded to, it should come down to two things, are you interested in their exclusives and future exclusives as well as are you interested in their all in one media capability. Outside of that there is no reason to get a second console.
For me, I don't play racing games, I never got into GoW, Halo isn't as good as it once was, and the media center aspect would not benefit me, so mine is not used often.
As far as multiplats go, people will say that they run better on PS4, but the difference in negligible IMO, so unless you have some good reason to start playing them on Xbox, my first two points are what you should think about.

fine fine. i'll give a legit answer. jesus this board has been run into the ground.
i've owned an xbone since release. don't own a ps4, but own a mid level gaming computer that i hardly ever game on. i'm assuming you already know the ps4 vs xbone vs pc graphics debate. if not, a master race doucher will be by here shortly to remind us all of the obvious and to bang on their chest.
i like it. my e-friends play on xbox. i prefer the microsoft exclusives over playstation exclusives. i also feel the more popular fps and sports games have a bigger market on the xbone than the ps4. i don't use my kinnect any longer, but the voice command features are more useful than you would originally suspect. the gui itself is ever changing, but currently is a lot better than when launched. but it is very much built around the "all entertainment media" concept. which if that's your thing or you plan on using the xbone in your living room connected to your primary television will serve as a great entertainment all in one. has all the popular video apps you could ever want and is easy to use. already owning plenty of media devices, you probably have access to everything you want or need, but having them on one console where you are a voice command or controller strokes away, is worth it. the features that exceed their competitor (imo) are the party chat system, messaging system, social achievements dynamic, activity feed, and the xbox one app / microsoft glass application. You can also stream your xbox to a windows 10 pc and stream media from your pc to the xbox one.
as stated before: if a friend asked me 'xbone vs ps4' recommendation and all they did was play multiplayer or singleplayer. i would tell them ps4, but in your case if you are interested in the all in one media aspect, then absolutely the $299 price is worth it.

That's weak sauce, proofy.
Legit "legit" response, btw. Phil Spencer admitted last year that MS had a lot of damage control to do after that initial "no used games" debacle. You only have one chance to get a message across, and if you do it wrong, it sticks with you. Most knowledgeable gamers know now, but even a year or two after all of that, a lot of general consumers referred to the Xbone as "that thing that won't let you play used games and you always have to be online". Now, they are just owning up to it and trying to do it right from now on.

that was the worst presser / release conference of all time. marketing undergrads will be doing case studies on that frick up for decades. it's likely still hurting their sales numbers and will continue to for the life of this generation. thankfully they already had a pretty strong brand loyalty that bailed them out of that debacle.

Was listening to an old bombcast and one of guys on it said "that wasn't the wrong way of presenting that, they did that fine, it's just that no one stopped and asked 'is it really a good idea to even say this'".
Most people in the industry agree that what MS was going for IS the future of gaming, but they tried to force it down everyone's throat all at once and we were having none of it. Also, Sony took advantage of the situation and said "we're doing none of that nonsense". So well, in fact, that they slipped in "you'll now have to pay to play online" and people actually cheered for it.
It was something to watch.

You mean saying "deal with it" isn't a good way to sell a product?

Remember what Don Mattrick said in response to the always online questions?
"We have a product for people who can't get online, it's called Xbox 360."

MATTRICK: "Some of the advantages that you get, of having, a box that is designed to use an online state, so, that, uh, to me is the future-proof choice, and I think people, could've arguably gone the other way if we didn't do it and fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity, it's called Xbox 360."
KEIGHLEY: "Right, so stick with 360, that's your message if you don't [inaudible] like it?"
MATTRICK: "Well, if you have zero access to the internet, that is an offline device, I mean, seriously, when I read the blogs, and thought about who's really the most impacted, there was a person who said 'hey, I'm on a nuclear sub,' and I don't even know what it means to be on a nuclear sub but I've gotta imagine it's not easy to get an internet connection."
KEIGHLEY: "[inaudible] playing call of duty multiplayer"
MATTRICK: "Hey, I can empathize, if I was on a nuclear sub, I'd be disappointed."
