SWtor vs eq2 vs FFXIV

i want to start playing an MMO again and can't really decide where to begin. The classic EQ2 servers have thus far been enjoyable; however, I want to lvl a smuggler in swtor to 60 before October. That said, I feel like FFXIV is the most fun of the bunch, but the forced instances suck.

I keep wondering if they will try and boost swtor by putting it on console

Swtor has way too many buttons for a console release.

Is that any different than other MMO's?

A few of my friends are on it and I finally ended my free trial and bought the game yesterday. I'm having a good time. It's my first ever MMO.
Only complaint is that I"m playing on PS4 and the button layout is just terrible, but I'm finally getting the hang of it. I also have no idea what my friends are talking about half the time, the MMO lingo is a different language.

The majority of MMOs they release on console limit the number of skills you can have active at once. Swtor gives you like 6 hot bars, and the game's combat system forces you to utilize a number of those skills with its combat system.

FF14 has a lot of buttons. I think they did a good job with the UI. You use the L/R buttons + dpad or right thumb buttons. This gives you 16 accessible buttons without scrolling through hotbar sets.

Nice! I hope you enjoy it. What server are you on?
I'm still playing FF14 every week, trying to clear the new content. Still have a lot of fun with it.

Yep, when I played I used keyboard and controller sometimes. I was just as good on a controller. Really like the way they handled it.

I have played all 3 but only when they were vanilla, a lot has changed. But I liked all 3.
SWTOR was absolute shite when I got to max level because there was barely anything to do. But this was at launch, I hear they improved that a bunch.
I recommend FFXIV. It was the best, and the game is gorgeous.

Swtor is fun the first time through, would recommend.
FFX I haven't played.
I had a blast in EQ2, loved the housing and crafting, this would be my 1st choice.

Oh god lol. I don't even remember off the top of my head. I just chose the one the rest of my friends were on.
It's fun so far, kind of repetitive, but it's because I'm grinding trying to level up. Two of my friends and myself all started this week so there's a few of us starting out, but my two other friends are both lvl 60 so they're kind of giving us a lot of boosts and what not.

FFXIV have any PvP?
It does. I haven't played it, but two of my friends tried to play it last night and said it was a 30 min wait time. I have no clue what that means or how that's possible but the obviously decided against it.

As good a job as they could've done, but the slower paced combat helps a lot too.
Even so, it makes little sense to play FFXIV on console unless you don't have a PC capable of running the game.

I've played 14 for a while (a year at 2.0 launch and resubbed a while back). It's the only one of these 3 that i've played but it's definitely a great experience.
Beautiful visuals, easy to play for first timers to MMO (the games main story up to the previous level cap of 50 is basically an extended tutorial to teach you how to pla) and relatively good story (and I'd say great when considering the expansion story and some of the lore of the old endgame raids/dungeons)
Definitely not for everyone but the base game is cheap now and comes with 2 free weeks. I'm on ultros if anyone else winds up there
EDIT:
There's a couple different modes with different level caps (30, 40, 50 and 60 I believe). The old PvP was really hit or miss but they added a new capture the flag mode that is really fun, though the queues can be pretty long at times

It does, but it's not very popular. Especially not at peak playtimes.

I ended up quitting ffxiv after i found out my wife was pregnant knew I was going to have to change my gaming habits with a kid on the way. My raid crew was a top 10 crew on exodus server though. It was fun while it lasted I wasted 50 bucks on heavensward only to cancel my script a day after it dropped.

I have a level 41 Paladin, but I quit playing because I realized I sucked at tanking and didn't want to level another class.
