Krafton has no control over the terms. Its court stipulated now due to them attempting to violate the contract originally

Whats funny is thats still only 60 million in sales and steam gets a 30% cut so that $250 million bonus is gonna hurt. I did see the first 2 games were on the top sellers list for steam currently as well though.

This is likely as cheap as the game gets during early access. It will then go up when it is released to $40. After that itll prolly go on sale but i think itll be in early access for another 2 years

One of my favorite series ever.
I got the early access the other night and have about 10-15 hours into it. I take my time.
Totally new story. Beautiful graphics as expected. Gameplay going back to the first Subnautica roots more. Updated some of the base building techniques which are cool. New vehicles.
Enjoying the heck out of it so far. About to head down into the first heat zone.

Someone did a breakdown and the publisher has to pay $3 for every dollar sold for sales between 2.3 million and almost 6 million.
Their break even point is 11 million sales which is crazy.
The first 2 games have been selling a lot of copies the past few weeks too though which they get all the proceeds from that so will offset it some.
I do think this game eventually sells 10 million but definitely not at full price.
They probably got paid about 70 million from microsoft to put it on gamepass day 1 too

I can't confirm, but I saw some analysis that the payout isn't even driven by Subnautica 2 sales, but all Unknown World sales. So, the bump in 1 and BZ sales are also driving the payout up.
If that's true, they've probably already hit the numbers for the max payout.
