Sources: Resident Evil 3 remake in development, to be released in 2020

This is made more likely by the fact that Capcom said it will “explore” more remakes after this year’s Resident Evil 2 - especially as the game was so successful, selling over 3 million copies across PC, PS4, and Xbox One in its first week.

Resident Evil 3 originally came out for the PS1 back in 1999. It follows Jill Valentine, returning from the first game, as she tries to escape from Raccoon City during the zombie outbreak that’s depicted in Resident Evil 2 - the events of the third game take place before, during, and after its predecessor.

Jill is pursued the entire time by the Nemesis, a new biological weapon manufactured by the Umbrella Corporation to hunt down the remaining members of S.T.A.R.S. The Nemesis is similar to the Tyrant in Resident Evil 2 but is even deadlier due to being faster, stronger, and more intelligent.

According to Eurogamer's sources, we might not hear anything official about this Resident Evil 3 remake yet as Capcom is focusing on getting the multiplayer spin-off Project Resistance out first.

We’ve previously debated whether the next Resident Evil game should be a sequel or a remake. If these rumours are anything to go by it looks like we may get both next year.
