Sony has announced the next phase of this year's Play at Home program. It's giving away games to encourage people to maintain social distancing amid the pandemic during warmer months. Some great games will be up for grabs in the coming weeks. You don't need to be a PlayStation Plus subscriber to claim these games. They're completely free.

Headlining the list is Horizon Zero Dawn. You can claim the Complete Edition of the blockbuster, which includes the Frozen Wilds expansion, for free between 11PM ET on April 19th and the same time on May 14th.

Never even tried to get one, if all goes well I will be living in a tent for the next 6 months.

I played on the Pro, but never finished.

Would like to see this title on Steam.

The PC version is crap. Would not waste your time.

Why is it crap?

What do you run it own? Yes it might have that weird port stuff like controller head flip, but I would play on PC with a controller.

I have not ran it myself. Since I also own and played it on PlayStation when it first came out.

I have just saw many complaints including the guys from digital foundry shitting on it. Apparently it just performs really bad.

Edit: actually seems like they may have issued a fix recently.

So, what have we learned from this re-evaluation of the game and are there any takeaways in how future Sony ports may work out? Obviously, we don't really want to see this situation play out on future Sony titles. Well, Horizon Zero Dawn is much improved and it's no longer a 'poor' PC conversion, but neither is it particularly outstanding: there are still some issues such as the wonky cutscene camera change animation stalling, the rather odd animation playback jolt and the fact that I still think the game is generally under-performing on PC compared to the consoles. Even at matched console settings with low quality anisotropic filtering and middling image quality at 1080p, we should expect GPUs like RX 580 and GTX 1060 to power way beyond the results of PlayStation 4. Taking the RX 580 as an example, to see an AMD GPU with over 3x the compute performance of PlayStation 4 deliver less than 60fps is disappointing - and doesn't tally with the performance upgrade seen on other well-rounded console ports.

Oh well, I rather play a bad port on pc than use a console.

It can't be that terrible now, it has been some time.

Thanks for heads up.

It is on Steam. But it will never be given away free on Steam, at least not within the next several years.
