i'm going to try and beat it without any walkthroughs when i get it next week, but i know i will eventually break down in one of the temples and use one. to me, zelda was tough as hell and it will probably take me a while.

It really is so much more satisfying to beat the game without any type of guide. Plus is makes it last a bit longer.

I know if I can get past the water temple (which I am in now) I'm good.
ETA: Well besides getting all the heart pieces, skulltulas, and the biggoron sword.

Back in the day I collected every single item without a walkthrough except for all 100 skulltulas. I could only find 99. I eventually broke down and looked through a walkthrough, and I still couldn't find the damn 100th skulltula.

how in the hell did you find every hidden area and heart? maybe i just havent played it in so long and it would be easier for me now, but i remember playing it and thinking, "there is literally no way anyone could have found _____ without a guide." some shite was hard even with a walkthrough. i was like 13 when i played this game last so i was dumb as shite though.

The funny thing is, I played without a guide and found everything... except one thing. To get the 4th bottle you have to hunt down the Poes in Hyrule Field. I could not find the 10th Poe for the life of me, and the final bottle was all I needed to get 100% on the game.
I was at a friends house and he had something like the unofficial perfect guide for the game, and I was flipping through it, and in the back of it was all of the Poe locations.

How did I find everything without a guide? This game out when I was at LSU. I had a lot of time on my hands one semester. We didn't have cable tv, so I would just play the Hell out of Zelda.

Is this the one that breaks?

You take it to the guy at the top of the mountain and he gives you one that doesn't break.

I may be crucified but I liked majora's mask more. That was a hard game especially if you wanted all the masks. Sometimes you would have to work for 3 days to get a chance to get a mask. If you failed that chance you had to start over.

It was good but OoT was absolutely a perfect video game.

I liked the Shadow Temple as well, but it creeped me out as a kid.
I just didn't like the ambiance. It was certainly unique though. All 5 adult dungeons were very unique.
The Water Temple is a combination of difficult and unbelievably frustrating and made me want to punch babies. The shadow mini-boss was also a major bitch.
The Forest and Fire Temples were both cool.
The Spirit Temple was downright epic.

Not to mention the bitchin arse ocarina song for it.

Majoras Mask was a good game, but it was not Ocarina of Time. MM just didn't feel as epic OoT. The MM world felt very restrictive while in OoT I felt like I could explore Hyrule forever.
But truthfully, the only Zelda game I was ever disappointed in was Zelda II.

OoT, Majoras Mask, Twilight Princess/Link to The Past were my favorites.
