I can't find the ram settings.
I tried both settings tabs that I can see on the mod page and neither has ram options.
I just tried twice to get on and was booted. It takes a bit to get going with the mode packs.
As soon as I put the servo info in again, bam, back to technic launcher.

Try lowering your video settings. My laptop isn't that new so I had to go to fast graphics and lower the chunk render distance.
Hopefully I'll do even better now that I've upgraded Ubuntu and got a new Java install. Just have to get the technic launcher working. . .

it's something to do with Java.
Even in single player with the mods it crashes.
One time I got a message saying Java memory is low. But I have 1gb allocated. There is a yellow exclamation point next to the memory settings on the java options, but no explanation what that exclamation point is.

this is what happened to me.
I had to install java 64 bit. it then gives you more ram options above 1 gb based on your system.
once i installed java 64, it worked perfect

There is a gear at the top right of the technic launcher window. If you can't go above 1gb, you need to uninstall Java and install 64 bit Java.

Does anyone have a good nether portal? Finally want to grab some stuff from the nether and I seem to remember that the one near the spawn point leads into a hornet nest.

boy his is tough, is it just me or is it dark a lot more than it's daytime? When I lay in the beds in teh spawn area nothing happens. It's still dark.
I ran and found a place with tools, built some stuff then went off to claim a homestead.
I get killed so quickly though, and then have to run all the way back to find out that every time I die no matter w3hat I lose all my inventory.
Then, for some reason I can't get stone. I can't make an oven, so I have to eat raw meat, I can't make tools because I can't get stone.
The tools I did have I lost.
I ran and found a place with tools, built some stuff then went off to claim a homestead.

are you trying to get stone with a wooden pickaxe? Punching stone won't give you anything.

On the server it won't go to daytime unless everyone on its in a bed. If you are in by yourself then it will work.

i can run some pickaxes and whatnot to the spawn area. I would just take some stacks of iron and sticks, but someone would prolly just thug all the iron. If you need an escort to you house place and to get your stuff back, lemme know

I was using a block of wood to break the rock.

I've got a shite ton of iron. I can bring you a couple of each tool and some iron armor if you'd like. My kids will be going to bed soon and I can hop on.

Was it a little cave on an island near spawn with a torch outside? If so, that was my first little camp.
If you went north east from spawn house, I have a chest outside with a few stacks of melon (or at least there was some melon). Assuming you've explored a little from spawn, looking at your map (J key) in the night mode will let you see my base. It's hard to miss in night mode.

I put a chest in the spawn house with iron armor, some tools, and spare iron to start you out if you want it.

after reinstalling Java it's been great.
I was off and on for a few hours.
I picked a bad spot for my base, and had to build lots of tunnels to make it viable.
Hopefully a train system once I get redstone and gold.
I notice a few changes, well tons of changes.
Different metals for one.
I couldn't make a fence. I guess that is different too.
Lots of baddies to fight.

It seems the company the server is running on is having some issues right now. The hosting company put out a press release saying they were having some traffic issues, I think a cable may have been damaged somewhere. Just a heads up.

I went crazy trying to find sheep to make my own bed so I could spawn where I wanted.
As soon as I try to lay in the bed, I get three life points taken off.
Crazy stuff.

I hit a horde of Iron so I wanted to do that, and replace the tools I borrowed from this mine near me.
So these big giant castles are generated, those aren't your houses?
I don't think I found but one players house so far.
I haven't explored much, spent four hours building tunnels yesterday.

If you haven't done so yet, you need to get to ore doubling asap. Build a survivalist generator or two and a sag mill. It will crush the ores into 2x as much. Make sure you try to keep flint in the sag mill to reduce power and decrease power use. You can grind gravel for flint. You can use the pulverizer from Thermal, but I like the config options on the enderio machines. An alloy smelter would be a good investment as well
