If it works out like it did for my PS3, IF I buy this thing, it will quite some time after release from eBay.
I'm even less inclined to get the PS4. I was all about Playstation for the longest time and was so geeked to get my hands on the PS3, but since I already had a 360 and all of my friends played on XBL, there really wasn't anything I just had to get for it. I mainly got it because I didn't want to miss out on MGS4. After that, it was hit and miss. Now it's just my blu ray player.

I don’t mind buying a new console, but they better get their act together if they plan on implementing this. PlayStation Network account with online activation.

However, Sony has a competitive edge on Microsoft offering the service for free and they already have the PS+ service that offers certain perks anyway. Do they want to fall in line with Microsoft, or be the alternative to Microsoft? And would making their online service subject to fees hurt their sales?

True. This is probably what they refer to in economics as inelastic. The demand for it won't change that much, if at all, if they charged a certain fee (that mainly pertains to people who only play PS3). And if they did, it probably would force a lot of gamers, me included, into picking one console or the other.

Any idea on the price? I think I paid $500 or $600 for the PS3 at launch, but I doubt I'll do this for the PS4 unless it's reasonably priced or shows me something outstanding.

Ya you don't have to upgrade a PC just to play the newest games. I have a Core2Duo, DDR2 memory and I play everything on high or Max (witcher2, Battlefield 3, D3, and Skyrim) which looks way better than consoles could dream of... I also built it 6 years ago. I did put in a 560ti card in but that was because my girlfried gave it to me for my birthday, I was still playing the latest games on way higher rez's than consoles before I got the card. This statement that you always have to upgrade your computer is a flat out lie.

and then they don't even realize how much cheaper it is to "upgrade" a rig.. than it is to buy a new console. Still ok though, cause you have to actually have an IQ higher than.. who am I kidding? it's really easy to upgrade Desktops.

I wanted something different. Plays D3 just fine for my liking. I dont plan on Playing anything else on it. Just a recreational computer.

$1500 does not compute. You could have spent a lot less and got a PC that will not only play D3, but have Diablo make you a sandwich. An iMac is an art machine, plain and simple.

Well, my 5yr old laptop does NOT run like it did when i first bought it. I've heard Apple computers run the same through out their life span. Like i said, i want something different. So i got a mac.
