I bought it at launch and didn’t care for it. Picked it back up a month or so ago and I literally can’t stop playing it. It’s anime as frick but something about the style of it is like crack.

Yeah I enjoyed it. I always pick up these types of games later on when they have the big price drop, like used $15.

Only thing I didn’t like is kind of visiting the same areas again as the story progresses.

Did you do both campaigns? I did the guy first and the girl second an maxed all bonds with the help of a guide a bit. The guy is definitely easier to play with but the girls campaign is much more fun when you get her style down and it sheds way more overall light on whats happening.

I think what makes the game so good and addicting is a few things, despite the fact they way overuse zones an insulting amount

1: two campaigns with commpletely opposite combat styles but share the same power psyokenisis
2: Both of these inform much of the mystery of the other and 2/3 of the game play as rivals with teams with each member having powers you dont get full access till the 3rd act in the opposite run
3: It is anime styled and you repeat areas but the combat is just super fun and visceral especially at a high skill ceiling in the VR mode on the hardest mode

I really like the art style. The rest of the game was decidedly mediocre. Interest art style and game world wasted on repetitive, linear environments. The story is batshit insanity lazily told through comic book panels as if they entire plot progression was told through skits in a Tales game.

That said, I beat Skarlet Nexus. I did not beat Tales of Arise, and I have tried twice.

Yeah the plot total breakdown is legitimately an insane web of extremely unrealistic high technology yet cut off from the world in the North Pole society creating this like 3rd dimension string of time. Of course the two MC are actually SPOILERS

long lost brother and sister and have do a bunch of time shite. If you only play once we Yugio (as he’s suggested by anyone universally to brgjn with) then you wont know they actually failed and he’s like living alone his best life 50 years on as a wandering alien killing nomad.

It’s also extremely technically well made and put together with a insanely fluid combat system revoking around the balance of super powers, mostly melee combat, and 3 party members and once. I don’t mind so much they told their story persona 5 presentation like they f that was needed.
