Rock band has better songs but guitar hero is easier to play. i've been on the guitar hero bandwagon since the beginning so i'm a little bias. this is no help.

The Xplorer is the best plastic guitar ever by a fairly large margin and it also happens to be very cheap.
I thought so, too, until I played the GHWT guitar. That's my favorite now

I played GH first, then RB came out, and it was incredible. The notes come down a little differently than in GH, but it doesn't take long at all to get used to that. RB has a MUCH better DLC collection, and it's just more fun.
Also, GH: Aerosmith is one of the worst games I've ever played.
I've played GH:WT a couple times, and I didn't really like it as much as RB. But that may be just because I haven't played it very much. The drum kit on GH:WT is definitely more realistic though (unless you get RB2 and the cymbal add-ons for the drum kit).

Metallica was a beast though, but I wish Call of Ktulu was on that game. I will let you know about greatest hits this afternoon.

yeah thinking about getting this one, let me know if its worth it. I have 2 and 3 but trying to decide if the GH 1 songs and the ability to play drums for 2 and 3 are worth it.

The best thing about the most recent generations of the games is that you can play Rockband on GH instruments and GH on Rockband instruments. Look up the song lists for the games and buy whichever based on that. You can probably get GHWT and Rockband1 for pretty cheap pre-owned.
I personally have GH and GH2 for PS2, GH3, RB1 and 2, and GH Metallica for PS3. I will probably buy RB:Beatles. I rented GHWT, it was ok but not as deep as Rockband when you add in all of the DLC and that fact that RB1 can be imported into RB2.

RB is alot of fun with friends. I think guitar hero is the better actual game when playing guitar on one vs the other

How does that work when there are 2 yellows, 2 blues, and 2 greens?
Do you only have to hit one of them?

I tried out some online play with GHWT yesterday.
I can now safely say that Rock Band online play absolutely dominates GHWT online play. Once the song is over, the only feedback you get about it is the total score of the band. No individual percentages, no awards no nothing. There is no stat screen. You can't even see what your star total was once the song is over. What a horrendously implemented system.
Not only that, but I'm fairly certain the singer had no way to talk to us in the middle of a song. Oh my goodness what a pile of junk that game is.

According to my boy, who can FC (full combo - no misses) songson expert on both drums & guitar, Rock Band has way better songs. Rock Band also seems to have better DLC. RB Drums are better, the GH guitar is better.
Go to wiki to find the songs on each.
Also, the character creator is better on RB.

4. Dixie Chicks - Sin Wagon
5. Drive-By Truckers - 3 Dimes Down
6. Jason Aldean - She’s Country
7. Kenny Chesney - She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy 8. Kenny Rogers - The Gambler
9. Lucinda Williams - Can’t Let Go
10. Martina McBride - This One’s For the Girls 11. Rascal Flatts - Me and My Gang

Because he managed to imply RB has all the instruments while GH doesn't as well as saying GH will have The Beatles game, which is a RB game.
So I don't see how it could be LESS spot on.

Exactly!
The only way that post could contain more misinformation is if the poster had reviewed the games as Guitarband and Rock Hero.

He was clearly talking about the regular Guitar Hero games, and not WT. I thought that was pretty obvious. That's what he knew so that's what he gave his opinion on.
Also, he said Beatles, so he may have been wrong on that (although there were rumors about a GH Beatles game). But GH does have more versions, does it not? Of course it does (GH, GH2, GH3, GH: Metallica, GH: Aerosmith, etc. compared to RB, RB2).
I guess I used too much logic though. My apologies.

Its not rumors, its a new ROCKBAND game. Calling a new rockband game a GH game is misinformed.
quote:
Rock band is more fun to play with other people, as they offer Lead Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, and Voice as options, but it's more expensive. Guitar Hero has more versions (Beatles, Aerosmith, etc.)
Regardless if you thought he was talking about "regular" GH games, the post makes the argument that Rockband is more fun due to the ability to use all the instruments (or was that not obvious to you?), which is an uniformed opinion.

How is that so clear? How do you know that's all he knew? And if it is, then he is uninformed. So let me help the two of you.
Since the release of World Tour, GH Mettalica and the recently released GH Smash hits all support full band equipment (that's right not just WT). So yes, the first three GH games that came out before RB did not support full band equipment, but the best songs from those titles have been released on Smash Hits which supports full band equipment.
So, I guess the OP hit the nail on the head by stating that GH has more versions, but logic or not, the two of you are misinformed about the versions available. Hope this helps.

smash hits is actually a lot of fun. I was not a fan of world tour but I am digging smash hits

You can choose to hit either the "tom" or the "cymbal" when that color comes. Can usually tell when they're using it for a cymbal or tom, but either hit registers the same.
In the open drumming mode on RB the game knows which one you're hitting and makes the correct sound

quote:not enjoying smash hits at all. Made it too hard. Songs I easily beat on the older games I am now struggling to finish. Timing seems a little off but it may be that I am playing on a new tv but I did calibrate. The songs actually are not are smash as I thought but that may just be me. The career is difficult(expert). Seems you have to 4* all the songs to unlock the next venue. I really don't see myself putting any more time into this game. i'll put it on the shelf next to Aerosmith.
