PS5 Jailbreak war: Sony versus Hackers

Anyone else been following this as it heats up over the past week? Here is an article from push square covering the basics of the story as of a day ago
Push square
Basically hackers have found an exploit that will totally jailbreak your ps5 as long as it is running on one of two system firmware versions. Sony ofc is battling back and if you have wondered why you have gotten multiple ps5 updates to your system in a single week this is why, they are attempting to push everyone to firmware where this exploit won’t work.
The hackers have already reworked it once though, which is why a second update had to be put out. I am guessing they are trying as we speak to once again do it on the latest update.
I think this is pretty hilarious and comeuppance PlayStation was badly overdue for. This coupled with the ability to emulate ps5 games on pc proceeding at a very swift pace has to have the corpos at Sony seething

In the age of AI, Sony, and every other tech company needs to come with terms with the fact, proprietary software will never exist again.

Sony goes all digital, hackers make their console digital

Historically, the hackers have found various ways to downgrade the firmware to a hackable version should it be updated.
I know that certainly happened with the PSP, which got the living frick hacked out of it by the homebrew community.

I think rockstar is more concerned than Sony.

There are also 3-4 PS5 emulators for PC being worked on right now as well. Some are playing games (not all games) today. This has been developing over the last few months with AI doing the heavy lifting, from what I read.

I don't have any of my ps2 or ps3 discs anymore but it would be awesome to do this without worrying about being banned online.
of course I would rather play the PC versions of most of the final fantasy games anyway where people have improved them with mods

ps3 discs
are only going to go up in price when the store shuts down

What makes the disc versions better than just downloading a rom if you are already hacking your console?

i don't really know to be honest. maybe it's the ability to create your own ROMs if needed in lieu of relying on ROMs stored online that may or may not be reliable.? that's the only benefit i can see.
but i like having discs for some reason. call it nostalgia, or an investment, i guess.

None.
As soon as consoles were connecting to digital tv's, there is zero advantage over just emulating on PC.
