I did the Att next thing for me and the wife. We were always going over our data, so it increased fron 3mb to 10
My bill went up $20 a month, but it was really only 10 or so when you figured the extra overage charges
Plus we get new phones in 18 months. I'm always wanting a new one. Figured I'd give it a try.

I did that with my older phones, too.
So, if someone did lend me an iphone, how would it get activated? Would my sim card fit in the iphone?

As long as it's an ATT phone it should work
They did change the size of simcards a while back but I'm not sure that they'll be different

If you're going from a Micro-sim that's in the iphone4 and up and you're going to try and use it in a 3gs, or something older like that, you're going to need to make a create a template out of an old credit card or business card the size of the normal sized sim to hold the micro in place. It's not hard to do at all, and you can find specs and diagrams online.
Same principle applies when using the mini-sim or whatever the frick the tiny one that's in the iphone 5 uses.

I'm not the biggest fan of my S3 anymore, but going back to a small screen would be hard to do.
