What's awesome about the SOFLAM is that you can set it up anywhere on the map, leave it there and go about your business and remote control back into from anywhere you are on the map.

Anyone with a lockable weapon can lock on to the SOFLAM and take out a target.
While the javelin just locks on to ground vehicles, if you lock on a SOFLAM that's painted a jet, the javelin will take out the jet.

yeah you can and in fact that is how i leveled up the recon kit. i just prefer the ARs and Carbines.
I will run with Recon/SOFLAM tonight and see how well it works. But the only laser guided missiles anyone has now is the Javelin, right?

No, there's another US lock on weapon and another RU lock on weapon. Both factions can use the Javelin.
If you are rocking a SOFLAM, you're getting an invite.

I want to say that it will automatically lock on to targets if they cross directly in front of it without you having to do anything. But if there are multiple targets you will have to take control and paint each one.
