the "C" and "D" series are practically the same. the C series is the 2010 model and the D series is the 2011 model.

Sony and Samsung actually share TV technology. For the most part there tvs are an extremely similar product.
The main difference is Sony markets to a middle - higher end buyer only and Samsung tries to market for low-mid-high. Hence Sony can be a little more expensive.

my dad just got a UN55D6000, which is similar but doesnt have same bezel and doesnt have 3d, but the picture on is it pretty sweet, and it was on sale at BB for 999 a couple weeks ago when he got it
