Prima Games is shutting down

not surprised with everything i can find on the internet.

Plus, games are so large now a printed strategy guide for something like RDR2 would be a nightmare to put together and publish.

It would take months of research and editing and be the size of a damn dictionary.

Also what happens as they add DLC? New areas and missions and such.

It's clearly the type of thing that has to be crowd sourced online.

I had tons of those old official Nintendo strategy guides back in the day. Last physical strategy guide I bought was for Resident Evil 2 on PS1, that's how long they've been unnecessary. I'm surprised it took this long.

Yep once I discovered gamefaqs it was pretty much GG for buying strategy guides.

I do really miss instruction manuals though. Those have just recently been phased out this past generation. Even in the PS3 era most games still had a manual.

Of the dozen or so PS4 games I own I think maybe 2 of them had some sort of legit manual. A few just had like a piece of paper with some basic instructions/controls and most had absolutely nothing.

Printed manuals don't really serve enough of a purpose to justify the cost, however they sort of added to the experience of a game. They often had interesting backstory or lore or artwork or jokes, that sort of thing.

Their Zelda 64 guide certainly was. And their Resident Evil guides were clownshows too.

I like Gamefaqs a good bit, but I don't really like the text-based guides. It's too easy for me to loose my place. That's why I liked Prima e-guides because they were in an easy to follow format.

The last one I bought was for FFXII Zodiac Age so that I could get a good understanding of the job system.
