If you guys liked Sword/Shield or Arceus you'd be fine with this.
The graphics are very much in line with Sun/Moon Sword/Shield, with the distance drawing issues of Arceus. Things may get visually glitchy here and there but the game isn't crashing all the time like Sword/Shield did to me. I haven't had it crash once, even when the grass gym's quest bogged my frame rate down to a slide show.
A lot of the concepts are like Sword/Shield - fast travel works the same, there are raid nodes where you can do a 4 man raid or "solo" it and they'll auto-fill the other 3 spots with NPCs. The whole map is like one big wild area where you can just sort of wander and do whatever, pick up items catch wild Pokemon. The Pokemon are visible in the world to be engaged.
Would you say Arceus is better than Scarlet/Violet? We haven't played Arceus yet. Looks like it's 10 bucks cheaper through Amazon as well.

I wouldn't say it is "better" because they're different kinds of games. Arceus does not follow the base template of the normal games where you have to defeat 8 gyms and go to the final 4 to win the game by becoming the champion, and catching them all is sort of a side quest if you really want to collect. Your big goal in Arceus is helping create the first Pokedex, so you have to catch and battle with all the Pokemon to help complete your entries.
There are other quests and things to do but the big fun of Arceus is Shiny Hunting. The Pokemon spawn visibly in the overworld and if one spawns in Shiny you will hear a shiny noise as you get within load distance of it, and the shiny stars will be visible in the overworld when the noise is made so you can see the animation too. Makes it easy to collect a lot of them, if you enjoy that.

Yeah that doesn't sound like what we're looking for.
I enjoy the battling first and she enjoys the picnics and playing with the cute ones. I catch most of the new ones I see but I wouldn't want a game where that's the main goal.
Thank you.

I've almost played through to the end game and I can now say that it's crashed once or twice, but it's otherwise been playable.
It does look like hot garbage though

What I can't get is how often I've seen Pokemon that have spawned inside a wall. I can almost forgive the weird way people walk in the distance in a town or the bizarre shadows, but it kind of breaks my immersion when half a Pokemon is stuck in a cliff face trying to claw its way out to get to me.
Also, what's with the lag in the Pokemon boxes? The boxes worked fine in BD/SP but I have to sit and wait every time I go into a box for all of the sprites to load, it shouldn't do that.

The Nintendo switch's hardware is anywhere from 5-10x slower than a 2022 smartphone.
I could buy that excuse if Breath of the Wild didn't look breathtaking and perform smoothly as well.
The reality is that Pokémon is a great concept that the dev team just mailed in.

This should be common knowledge ever since they lied about the "new models" in the first attempt at a "real" console game and got exposed for just porting over 3DS assets.
They know they can just slap the Pokemon logo on any piece of trash and it'll sell millions.

I'm enjoying exploring the open world so far, but I feel like I keep getting disconnected from the story lines cause I want to cover every blade of grass. So far I've taken down 3 gyms, 4 titans and only 1 star base. But because I explore so much I have 3 pokemon that are higher than level 50 and the other 3 are all higher than 40. And i haven't even started using any raid candy yet
Feel like sword/shield where I'm just going to be laughing my arse off at how weak the elite 4 is but I guess I'll see.
And man you can get some pseudo legendaries early. Already have base evolutions of tyranitar, garchomp, dragapault, salamence, hydreigon, goodra and the new one(not mentioning specifics cause spoilers).
Kinda want to pick up the new one but it would give me too many physical attackers imo. Guess it doesn't matter cause ill run through the elite 4 no matter what.
