I'm getting my build together for my 4770k. Decided first on the bitfenix phenom M, but there is zero WC'ing support for that case. I'm going with the 350D now with a maximus vi gene board I got on new egg for $150.
I'll probably grab a swiftech h220 if I can find one and then a 780 or 290(x)
Edit: I just realized that I have kept one part though out all of my builds... My SSD. I put it in my very first PC two summers ago and still have it

I have one relic from my builds/upgrades over the years, and that is my LG Blu-ray burner. Bought it back when Blu-ray burners were hitting the market, thinking I'd be copying the shite out of blu-rays once the price of blank discs went down. That was a useless purchase, yet I still keep it for the occasional optical drive use.

I like my main rig to be pretty, so putting a HDD or disc drive in it kills it.
Still can't believe you don't have a HS or media server. Telling you, makes life a little better having a 24/7 central access point for accessing data.

N5 users, what apps and other features do you recommend beyond social media, dropbox, etc?
Damn I'm the fig who owns no social media accounts.
As for apps, I'm new into the android world but only use my n5 for in car podcasts, music, audiobooks and browsing internet at work.
Gmail
GDrive
BeyondPOD
Audible

No H220s in stock... So I'm settling for an h100i
Posted on 3/6/14 at 12:37 pm to bluebarracuda
I'm not using this h100i.

Why? If you don't use it I'll cancel my new egg order and buy yours

I got a gtx 670 for $180. Was that a good deal?
Not sure if it has been posted in this thread or if it's common knowledge, but Staples online will price match Micro Center.

Good deal for a 670, considering its equal and conuterpart is going for $300

I'll build one eventually. It's just very, very low on the priority list. My main rig is the 24/7 central access point. I don't even hear my hard drives. The majority of hard drive noise is a result of the amplification of the surface the PC is sitting on -- i.e., a hard surface, especially wood. My desk space is limited, and my case is desk-height, so it's on carpeted floor. With all its other drawbacks, carpet is still an amazing sound/vibration buffer. I never hear anything in my computer but the reposing whoosh of my Gentle Typhoons.

Same, I really hear my computer but for the D5. I just hate leaving the thing on because of WCing wearing out, since they are mechanical.

My PC is on 24/7, even before I started mining. Probably good practice to use a second pump for redundancy even if your loop doesn't need the extra GPM. But remember, we are running custom loops with much higher quality, re-purposed pumps -- regardless of mods/top replacement, all of these pumps' motors are intended for aquarium use (or some other industrial use), i.e. 24/7/365 operation to keep fish alive. Theoretically, the initial surge of turning them off and on again is more damaging than their constant operation (that's true for most PC hardware too).

So I think my graphics card is fricked. I had issues with my PC crashing when playing Binding of Isaac, which is a flash game, and it would also crash every now and then when using flash sites, such as twitch. Recently I noticed that whenever I would click in the window of either a flash game or a twitch broadcast, it would cause the site to freeze for about a quarter of a second. I also started getting some graphical artifacts every now and then on my second monitor. Just now, I clicked on a twitch stream link and then this happened:

See of there's a driver update. If there isn't, then try the drivers previous to the ones that are currently installed.

I remember having this conversation with you a while back. I'd hoped you had fixed whatever was causing it. Given the fact that all of your problems have been flash-based, and I know that you've tried many times to do a complete wipe and reinstall of Flash and your AMD drivers, the next step is to backup your files, reformat, and do a fresh install of Windows, followed by the latest chipset drivers for your motherboard, followed by the latest AMD WHQL drivers, followed by the latest Flash, followed by Binding of Isaac/Steam. And that's it. Nothing else. Then try playing the game and viewing twitch/other flash-based things. You need to eliminate as many software variables as possible.
If you don't do it this way, you could be RMAing the card for nothing-- and if you think doing a reinstall is a time-consuming pain in the arse, just wait until you RMA an AMD card.

I guess I'll have to try that over spring break. Sounds like a ton of work but I guess that comes with the territory sometimes.
