went and got that super cheap combo at MicroCenter didnt ya?
i suppose.....
money isn't really a problem, i just can't justify in spending >$800 on a PC. for what I'll be using it for.

It is gpu but then again still not holding you back from doing what you want to do.
if i mind myself falling deeper into being Master Race, I will be quick to upgrade GPU and RAM.

Then that won't last

We all had small budgets and family at one time..
As the years go by the budget grows and relationships fade away. The only comfort you find are from LEDs inside your case which flash and scream to tell you they won't leave you.. they are still here.

Plus there is always porn...
Meanwhile in PC news, AMD Steamroller

Tbh Klark, a good desk, chair and peripherals makes the whole experience a lot better. I have a really comfortable leather chair for my computer room and decent desk.
Invest in the furniture and hardware.

good read. Answers a lot of questions I had. Did a good job of explaining the difference between tearing, stutter, dropped frames and more importantly why they happen. I understand why I had tearing in FC3 despite a constant FR of 60 with Vsync on.
I'm still using my 670 and I was doing some benchmarks before installing the 7970. I guess this answers if I should do hardcore in game benchmarks over synthetics. Understanding how unreliable fraps is has told me not to spend a ton of time doing them. I'm basically just trying to get a measure of how much more performance I should see out of the 7970. Comparing synthetics at similar settings should give me that provided I don't see a lot more discernible artifact. Agree?

Puff
You don't use precision or afterburner for Fps?

nope fraps. should i be using an OC utility for FPS if theyre all measuring the same thing?

I can monitor my system better in game. You get a tiny on screen display of whatever you want to see with less system resources used.
Fps, temp, power, core and mem clock.. Etc.
I always bump a small OC if I play multiplayer games and/or demanding titles like cyrsis 3.

I use FRAPS as well when the game itself doesn't have an option/console command to drawfps.

well initially i was going to compare the cards at stock. Then I figured that the 670 is voltage locked and I'm not going to damage it for resale by OCing the shite out of it. So now I get to watch the heaven benchmark 50 times.

I doubt you will harm anything without modded bios or hard mods.
The driver will crash or the card will shut itself down. It will start throttling down at 70c anyway with boost 1.0
Your card will start throttling power at 70c unless you adjust the bios. You won't harm the card with heat or voltages with a stock bios. NVidia makes them idiot proof, reason they have tons of modded bios for every goal you want to reach.
