So I just graduated from LSU and want to upgrade to windows 8.1 for free before I am unable to use tigerware. I've never updated an OS. How do I go about doing this? Can I do it and keep all my games and such installed?

Nvidia released a beta driver with an update for ac4 within like a week of it coming out. Off course they had the leg up working with this game all along

They are slightly different. My are the DT990 Premium 600 OHM LINK
The plastic on the Pros makes those 990s terrible. I went with the Premiums because it comes with better insulated components. These wont ever leave my desk so I don't care about the resistance/ohms, an amp will most likely always be connected.

The other three choices on that amazon listing look identical to yours. Which ones do you have, and what are the key differences?

Any of you guys have texture pop in issues with ac4? I've noticed it a good bit. I don't think any of my settings could be affecting it

Look at my comment above. I have the DT 990 Premium 600 OHM. Purchased on December 12, 2012, lol Amazon is telling me that in the listing. IDK if I have ever seen Amazon display information like that. It also tells me I paid $269 for them and not $302 as listed, must have been on sale.
Its resistance. (ohms) The higher the ohms the higher resistance which requires more power to push, meaning AMPs. Higher the ohms will also provide more pristine sound compared to lower ohms. This is because of components being of a greater density. I will break down each headset in that listing.
250 OHM = Moderate resistance, good for studio and okay for ipod.
32 OHM = Low Resistance, best choice for ipod and not great for studio listening.
600 OHM = High Resistance, ipod doesnt have enough power(amps) to push these headphones. This results in the max volume level not being reached; meaning they do not get loud. They are the best choice for studio listening.

Textures not on the correct plain or sort of like textures transposed above the their plain?

Have you looked at the DT 770s? Those are completely closed.

I love these DT770s. I would purchase these closed/32ohm models so I would have a good over the ear headset for traveling. Remember closed = less noise in/out and lower ohms = less resistance for my phone to push.

I don't travel much, and I very rarely listen to music except in the car. I also do not like bass. Whatever I buy needs to have gaming in mind as the number 1 priority, for a variety of genres and a mix of casual and competitive -- secondary use would be the occasional blu-ray.
EDIT: I don't know if I ever mentioned this here, but I have mild hereditary partial deafness. It's not really that bad, though. I can have a normal conversation, but things sound slightly more muffled to me, so clarity is more important than anything. I almost always have to adjust EQ settings when watching a movie without headphones, to enhance dialogue significantly above everything else.

1. DAC/AMP: Fiio E10 - $79
2. CANS: Beyerdynamic DT 770 250 OHM - $165
I listed the closed headphones because I know your gaming set up doesn't get disturbed often by ambient sound but has a chance to. These headphones are extremely clear and the DAC will clean any noise up and amps will push it as loud as you need.
EDT: You can no doubt find a cheaper set of cans to fit your needs but I was keeping with the Beyerdynamic theme, but the DAC/AMP combo I listed is the bare bottom I would go with.

In terms of DACs and amps, I would recommend the O2 amp/DAC. I personally own the objective DAC and it is excellent.

I'm referring to certain objects having bad draw distances essentially popping in instead of gradually showing up on screen. It's an issues more common in open world games with all that's going on.

The reason I listed the e10 over the e7 was because he stays in a pure desktop environment.
We can probably find him a cheaper and just as capable set of cans, but stayed on the Beyerdynamic theme. Let me find a few more options.
