I've seen you say this before. Can you elaborate?
I don't know what clocks you game at but I always find the highest clocks a game will accept before crashing. Most games will crash @ clocks above 1189. So I usually game @ clocks around 1150.
Do you experience any of this?

If games crash, the overclock in general is unstable. My everyday gaming clocks are 1200/1600 on both cards. When I had one card, I pushed the core close to 1300 for daily gaming. Basically gave it as many MHz as it could handle at 1.3v in games and benchmarks (max allowed in afterburner without a bios mod).
EDIT: I get what you're saying. It just seems like an odd way to look at it. It's not the game that can't handle the clock speed. It's the GPU that can't handle the clock under a particular load at whatever voltage you've set.

Yes and no but most game engines don't like high clock speeds.

It isn't 1 for 1. Every game engine and every game is different, some perform well with high clocks and others can throw errors. You're Triple AAA titles using the more advanced/mature engines will rarely give me trouble at 1202+ but sometimes they do. It could also be drivers giving issues related to a game.
I can say the same clocks stable in benches is not stable in game and we all know this. There are very few games which actually pushed my TITANs and the TIs. The games which did actually performed well with higher clocks like Crysis, Far Cry, Metro and Batman.
If I wanted to I can run games at my cards max OC of 1241 but this will mostly likely result in artifacts or crashing. All the while my cards usage is staying under 80%. So so seeing this time and time again I noticed most games do not like crazy high clocks, they all have their ceiling.

I don't believe this to be true in all situations.

I need to see a technical explanation/demo somewhere. I have never encountered this.

Anyone ever have issues with windows update? I have one update that will not install. I shut it down last night and when i woke up this morning it was still installing. This isn't the first time it's done that either

I apologize for not keeping up but your build changes like I change underwear.
It could be a driver thing but I see it in just about every game.
AC4 runs fine at 1202 for me but I had to drop it down to 1189. The game would crash during a cut scene where you solved a puzzle matching predator with prey.
What I'm talking about isn't across the board but in areas throughout a game. This is common issue that I have seen discussed on other forums also so it is pretty odd you have never came across issues.

Speaking of ac4, it needs more puzzles like ac2 had. I also broke down and turned off AA last night. It runs smoother now and I really don't notice unless I take the time to look for it.

The game run great for me. I never did test on my 7950 before selling it and idk if a driver fixed the problems for you guys.
Only time my frames dropped was in the "god rays". It would go down to 25-30-35, just all over the place.
Have you finished the game yet?

Name some games where this happens most often and I'll try playing it with my max single card overclock.

Get on Skype sometime today and help me choose a new headphone setup. That guide you linked has got me seriously ready to upgrade. I've been using Philips O'Neill headphones connected directly to front panel audio. I know so little about audio that I have no idea what I'm missing.

I'm no where close to finishing the game. I keep exploring to much. It was payable as was but got drops sometimes add lite as 45. Now it only drops to 55 at worst. Amd still hasn't released any drivers for it that I know of. I only have a 7870 so I don't expect to max everything.

You will want closed and not semi-open because of kids I would guess. I have the semi-open DT 990s and I believe blue has the 770 or 880s, can't remember.
I know blue would probably choose something cheaper but I'm all for the mainstream Schilit DAC/AMPs. They are made in the USA, in California. I have the Magni/Modi combo but want to upgrade to a Vali amp.

You may be thinking it is constant and the game doesn't load or is playable but that is not the case. The game will load and seem playable and crash/artifact for no reason.
I'll just name a few recent triple AAA titles like AC4, Infinite and SpinterCell. Non-AAA titles don't usually enjoy 1202+ at all and will crash/artifact quite frequently. Maybe this is a driver issue, idk. The issue is present and like I stated it is not always constant. I thought it could be my cards are set up a long time ago, going back to my 690 but started to observe this to be a common issue when viewing other forums.

Also, I am not totally sure what this means. I need to be talked to like I'm a PS4 fanboy trying to learn to build a PC.

I have a pair of Audio-Technicas that are cheap ($150) which sound just as good as my DT990s do. The only reason I do not wear them is for comfort. They fit "odd" on my head, like a little too long, but everyone's head is different.
You're finally getting a DAC?

Basically
Open = Air pressure is shared with the inside and outside of the "cup/can". This results in very marginal gain in sound quality and are a little more comfortable because the ears are getting greater air flow.
The biggest con is that you hear everything. Any ambient noise or the clicking of your mouse you hear since they are open and not closed.
Closed = Basically noise canceling because everything is closed and sealed off. It is hard for you to hear outside noise and it is hard for the outside to hear the sound in your headphones. These are meant to be used in public.

Yeah the map is so freaking large and the number of islands you can explore, gives this game a ton of replay value.
Its been over 1 month since the release of an update driver from nVidia. Not even an updated beta which is odd.
