I thought about that but I just hook my laptop up to the tv when I want one in the living room.
We have 1 HTPC/Steambox hooked up to every TV.
You would love to play PC games with a controller sitting on the couch. We have this dual Logitech keyboard with a trackpad and there you go.
Funny thing is, we still use our Roku because Roku/Netflix is the only device which streams true 1080p video.

The lack of 1080p content out there bothers me. Even Netflix will stream 1080p on some devices and not others. But the tv industry wants me to go buy a 4k tv? No thank you...

Fucckkk why don't nvidia cards come with SLI connectors
Posted on 12/24/13 at 5:38 pm to bluebarracuda
They don't?
I have several if you need some.

i5-4330m (2.8GHz turbo boost 3.5GHz)
or
i7-4702mq (2.2GHz turbo boost 3.2GHz)
Very light gaming and streaming (DayZ Standalone, Diablo 3, LoL)
I could get the i7-4800mq (2.7GHz 3.7GHz turbo) but it would be paired with a 2GB 740m nvidia card, while either above option offers the 750m.
Since I don't do much multi tasking, I was going to grab the i5 for the higher clock rate and being able to choose the 750m GPU.

You're not going to be streaming shite while gaming on a laptop.
Posted on 12/24/13 at 5:47 pm to brucevilanch
Streaming is the last of my worry.
I can stream LoL decently on my current laptop.

Ahh, well good. Yeah, LOL is not system intensive at all. DayZ, on the other hand, is an unoptimized mess(and always will be)and it uses a lot of resources.

Well, don't get the lesser GPU for sure, because all of those processors are going to be crap for streaming regardless. Clock speed cannot be evaluated in a vacuum. The i5 will not perform as well.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, avoid the 740m at all costs.
I mean I can get an i7 with the 750m but it's the 4702mq which is the 2.2GHz speed with 3.2 turbo.
So i5 at much higher clock speed (2.8 3.8) or i7 at the lower speed?

Nope. They come with motherboards, but I got both mine used so they didn't come with it. I don't know if the ride to central is worth it

I feel like being generous and giving away some games from the Steam sale. Might do that tomorrow or something.

Post up your build on the benchmark contest and give away the games there!
Posted on 12/24/13 at 6:48 pm to bluebarracuda
Nah...not everyone is participating in that and I would like everyone to have a shot at the game/games if I do it.
I might just give away some PC parts instead of games. I have an HDD in the wrapping I found the other day but I think it's IDE.
ETA: It's ATA/100

It might draw in more participants. This board has been fairly dead. Even the gb awards has very low participation.

Why would they?
All MOBOs come with them.
