The Samsungs are still $169 at that capacity. The seagate is a good deal, has performance on par with the Samsung, and uses MLC NAND.

OK. this Litecoin mining sounds interesting. I have a box just laying around with 2 X 6950s in it. Any use in setting it up?

so i set up an account on hypernova and downloaded GUIMiner, connected to the dallas server and it says ive got a hash rate of roughly 460 Mhash/s.

my 7950 is running at 98% activity and causing minor artifacting in my web browser

how long before the details refresh in the hypernova account page?

I bought the 256 840 pro last year. Damn that 840 evo is sexy.

Talk to Bruce about honing your 7950 hashrate.

Switch to Chrome. I was getting annoying artifacts in Firefox.

Give hypernova a little while to update, 20 minutes maybe.

Looks like people are getting about 400Khash/s with a 6950, so 24/7 mining with both cards might get you $20 a day at the current exchange rate.

I sure am glad I decided to start doing this with the cold weather. The drawback of my highly effective cooling is that the PC becomes a space heater, and it's in the bedroom.

But my GPU temps hit about 45-46C when my radiator fans are up, and 52-53C when my fans are at 1000rpm.

ok yet another newb question... should all my shares show as "rejected"?

rejected shares: 384
efficiency: 0.00%

that seems not so great

That certainly doesn't sound positive

Raise your difficulty from 32 to 128 on Hypernova. It will reject less shares.

yeah, that's not so good. it does reject several in the beginning, but it should pick up after a few minutes. I've been mining for about 16 hours or so, and I have 95% efficiency.

if I recall correctly, these were bruce's settings with his 7950

Thread Concurrency: 16384
Work size: 256
Vectors: 1
GPU threads: 1
Intensity: 16 or 17 and no higher

Not sure what his clock speeds are though.

it is on 128
however the log in console on GUIMiner seems to be reducing the difficulty to 32 on half or more of each instance.
right now in summary it has

ok i downloaded GUIMiner-scrypt and it had those options readily available for changing. i just set it to 7950 low and it set some options - ill see how it goes.

I do have a 7950 I could do it with.

Tonight i'm focusing on getting my stream box fully working and playing a little LBW though.

With the latest price increases in LTC, I've restarted my pair of 7950s. Downloaded cgminer 3.7.2 and am running it with no parameters other than intensity 19 through WeMineLTC. Getting about 500 Kh on one and 540 on the other.

I had mined about 19 LTC back in April but sold them at $2.80 :(

I sold a small pile of bitcoins for $20 each back in 2011, all from mining.

Efficiency 75.29%

I purchased about $300 in bitcoins back in 10 or 11. Was using to buy larotabs off silk road. My shipment never came in and I'm guessing I have a few bitcoins still sitting on my MtGox or whatever account. I just can't remember my email, username or anything for the site because I used info which couldn't be related to me.

Did any of you guys fold back in the day? I used to be big into folding during 06-08. Never so much mining though.
