Unlike BTC mining, it appears to be VRAM heavy rather than GPU-intensive. The 7970 bios (at least for the GHz/OC editions) is weird when it comes to LTC mining, so the intensity level actually needs to be lower to get the best hashrate, so this works out well for me because I can mine and use basic applications/browse without issue. I was mining with both cards and skyping with bruce and blue while also browsing the exchange sites. With other cards, however, intensity settings may need to be higher, and at high intensity things get pretty laggy. At the highest intensity level, you can't do anything at all without crashing.

Did you see the guy at the top of the statistics list? He started yesterday. He's running at 95M/h. Making 61 LTC a day. Roughly $2500-$3000 a day right now.

He either fabricated his own ASIC miners, or he's got a big, hot room with roughly 120-135 7970s/290x's.

Is ASIC even efficient on Litecoin? I thought it was geared more towards Bitcoin. I haven't mined since they came out and Bitcoins difficulty increased.

Can you dumb down mining for a sec for me? Brief overview to peak my interest? I just upgraded my rig and now can build a spare rig with my old stuff. May play around with this.
Also, just got the new rig up and running. Gonna work the OC tonight and was looking for a good baseline OC to start with for the haswell 4770k. My components are:
i7 4770k
Sabertooth z87
Evga gtx 770
HX850 PSU
G Skill ripjaws Z 16g(4x4gb)
Corsair H100i
Gonna hopefully get to 4.5 stable. I upgraded from an i7 920 that I ran @ 4.0 for the past several years without a hitch.
Also, just got the new rig up and running. Gonna work the OC tonight and was looking for a good baseline OC to start with for the haswell 4770k. My components are:
i7 4770k
Sabertooth z87
Evga gtx 770
HX850 PSU
G Skill ripjaws Z 16g(4x4gb)

There are no ASICs for LTC yet, so I was suggesting that this guy engineered his own.
And yeah, frick those ASICs. Even at the ridiculous price of BTC at the moment, my 7970s would still only manage a little over a nickel a day after power costs

You'll need AMD cards. Nvidias are not efficient at mining. Even though your 770 at stock is slightly better at games than the 7970 at stock, your hashrate would be about a third of what the 7970 can do, but at the same power cost.

1. Make an account at BTC-E.com. This is where your Litecoins will be exchanged for Bitcoins (this appears to be the first step in the fastest way to get actual cash).
2. Make an account at coinbase.com. This is where ultimately your coins will be converted to money and directly deposited into your checking. You'll need to add your checking account info to this site, and it will take several days to verify, like Paypal does.
3. Make an account at a mining pool. We are using Hypernova.pw. Once you make an account, go to your "account" page there and add a worker (add 1 worker for every card you'll be using to mine . Name it whatever you want and assign a password. Make sure you click "128" rather than "32" or "64".
4. Download and extract GUIminer application: LINK
But I am out of time, so I won't be able to explain what you enter into GUIminer. Should be back late this afternoon after we eat, if Bruce or someone else hasn't explained the rest.
