I may try it again but i just doubt it will make much difference. I'm hoping AMD drivers come soon too. I was reading OCN earlier and people's performance has been all over the place.

I really believe it is AMD drivers. They are always late to the party with game drivers.

It doesn't help that this was optimized with nvidia, Kind of like how nvidia struggled with tomb raider for the first couple of weeks.

Interesting that God Rays hits performance like that. I've found it varies heavily though. What's sad is using the slider in that article, comparing the difference in visual quality. It's not that big of a jump, considering a $400 PC will get you the low quality, and the max quality requires $1,000+ in GPU power alone (less for typical 1080p though).
But still, I wonder if I could sell meth just long enough to afford a couple of 780 Tis.

The textures were funny, literally no change. AC3 was the same way with textures. Some of those settings were useless but I do love what they did with vegetation in the game.

Just get 2 780s. They will run anything and you know you're going to OC and put blocks. So there you go, 1149MHz in game is stable in just about every game.

I'm trying to do some runs with 3DMark right now and having trouble.
My OC is finally stable @ 4.5GHz. I messed with BIOS settings a lot last night. Possibly could get by @ 4.7GHz but it failed to pass prime and 3DMark11 Physics test. AC4 loaded a ran great. Today I try to actually bench and i'm getting weird errors. Uninstalled 3DMark and installing again now.

Yes, I don't have much outside of normal house/2cars/utilities/food and save 20% off every pay cycle. My liquid isn't tied up in much and I believe i'm doing "okay" for 27yrs old.

Well.. Maxwell go all out? Since you aren't getting the performance needed for this gen currently @ 1440.. 780s would be great until the end of 2014.

True, I should wait until Maxwell. I just get this way every time I encounter a game that doesn't let me quite max everything out (not including MSAA because the performance hit from that varies widely among games). Playing Crysis 3 is what made me buy the second 7970. Two 780s would not be "enough" for me to justify the upgrade. nVidia cards are poorly priced, so if I'm going to go nVidia next time, it needs to be a significant upgrade -- at least 50% better at stock than my 7970s OCed.

Just plan it better than we did. We had our finances in order, decided to use savings to do some needed house fix-ups, and we both bought new cards, then BAM, baby #1. We've been in semi-recovery since then, then BAM baby #2.

Part of the issue with the pc ids that we have a 2 bedroom house. The pc is in the guest room so if a baby goes in there we may not have anywhere to put it.
