So twice this week my pc failed to shut down while installing windows updates. When I have time I am going to have to figure out what is going on.

I'm leaning towards the motherboard being the problem with the two cards. I've had one card running in the primary slot for over a day and it works perfectly. I'll swap the cards out later today.
I did update the motherboard bios yesterday so I'll give two cards a try again and if that doesn't work I need to decide if I want another 1155 motherboard that is a dead end when it comes to upgrading or if I want to upgrade the motherboard and cpu (which I don't think I want to do at all).

Awesome. Good choice of 7970 PCB as well.
I stayed up all night last night installing everything I could, minus a res. Crashed around 8am and got up at 4pm.

Is that Amazon? That MSI TF 7970 was $268 on Newegg the other day. I hope you didn't pay more than that for it.

I just found the best mini-ITX case yet. Room for a 240MM RAD and a full size GPU and it's still nice and compact. It's being made by Lian Li but it was designed by a few PC enthusiast with internet involvement and it's due out by the end of the year or very early next year.
I would link it but Coyote would probably order a dozen of them before I could get one.
