Hey man.. update on my streaming build I am still going iTX but not Haswell. I just purchased my first big boy socket MOBO and currently working a deal for a 3930K to use as a place holder until 4960X.
MSI X79A-GD45 Plus 2011
So the new plan is to use my 3770K which will save me money. I plan to delid it buy the ASUS deluxe iTX board for the 12+4 phases.

Anyone have any experience with the windows surface pro? I'm looking for a tablet that can provide me with a full OS experience on the go.. Mainly for work.

I do too, now that I've had time to mess with it. I was annoyed at first because it has different nomenclature vs ASUS, ASRock, Gigabyte, etc.
How would yall rank motherboard brands based on personal experience with them?
For me, it's:
MSI, ASRock
ASUS, Gigabyte
Intel
ECS, Biostar
PC Chips (anyone remember those?)

I think everyones big 4 are MSI, Asus, Gigabyte and ASRock. I think i would just select the cheapest board of those 4 that has the feature set you are looking for and call it a day.
Ive also had a lot of good experiences from Biostar, but none of those have been on enthusiast boards - just home/office.
then again ive had nothing but good experiences out of Diablotek PSUs for home/office use as well and everyone seems to think they are junk so

That's what I heard. I'm wondering if the Surface RT would be enough for what I need it for.. I'm not sure the limitations of that OS.

Gigabytes motherboards are some of the best. Their $130-150 boards in the z77/z87 can't be beat for the price.

Yeah, the big 4 are basically the same, so the preferences are only based on individual experience. Someone has bad luck and has to RMA 2 ASUS boards in a row, they might swear off ASUS forever. Same goes for Hard Drives. Horror stories about Seagate and Western Digital. I've probably had equal number of both brands fail on me, but Seagate was the first to fail.
And pretty much any PSU will be fine for a home/office PC. The symptoms of a garbage PSU don't really show until you start putting considerable loads on the CPU and/or mid-high end graphics cards. Although some just catch on fire for no reason, but that's not too common.

If ASRock would make it easier to totally disable Turbo on Intel Boards they might be first.
MSI
ASROCK
ASUS
GIGABYTE/Biostar
I actually have good experience with Biostar boards. Gigabyte boards are "okay" IMO, nothing to write home about.

I've never had bad experiences with Gigabyte boards. They just cost more for the same features, at least that's the case with their mid-level Z87 boards. That's looking at specs on paper, though -- mainly things like SLI/Crossfire support. They might overclock better than the ASRocks. MSI MPower overclocking support has been impressive, but I bet I would've gotten the same performance from the GD65.
