Honestly at this point I am thinking it's a GPU issue that is related to the game, I have had it happen to me in MMOs where a select few had the same problem but most did not. The game provider usually ends up solving the problem. My only suggestion at this point is using a different GPU or waiting it out. A lot of the posters in this thread are much more knowledgeable than me though.

fully updated. about 250+ Win 7 updates Friday after I initially loaded my machine.

Disabled Wireless NIC.
I played 20 minutes on low settings. And now Im playing on Ultra without a hitch.

me too! that was fun! who's next? also, Coyote. I've ran on Ultra for about 10 minutes now. My temp is 70-75. That okay? Fan speed is 80%

at least you were able to fix it 70's for temperature is fine but if it were me I would have the fans running at 100% when that high up.

well, i spoke to soon.
it let's me play for about 20-25 minutes. then freezes again. i can at least get to a different save point tho, so i'm progressing in the game. Just met Elizabeth.
i guess i need to wait until they create a patch, because a lot of other people seem to be having the same trouble but worse.

Klark I don't think u have a bad card. Not at all.
There is just a setting it isn't agreeing with. You are just askin it to do something it can't you know?
If it passed 3dmark11 with great temps IMO you are good to game.

Yea as much as it sucks you are prob better off waiting to see if they patch it or the super nerds find a work around fix.
eta: What do you guys use for pc speakers? I have been playing everything through headphones. I don't care for anything nice or expensive, just looking for something cheap that doesn't completely suck.

I am still a Labtec system with a sub that I bought 10 years ago when I am not on headphones and it still sounds great.

You can get 2.1 systems for dirt cheap these days. I rarely use them though, only for watching videos and non gaming

You can get speakers cheap in general. I just don't want to waste time getting speakers for $10 and having them sound like static

I use a little Polk system I rigged up with old surround speakers
