No doubt. But historically, most people in the tech sphere generally viewed AMD as less inclined towards frickery than either Intel or Nvidia. With the pricing of the 7900 series combined with this kind of artificial staggering, I now think of AMD as no different than the other two. Not surprising, I suppose, now that AMD has risen in prominence, but still a bit disappointing.

AMD isn't gonna go by "hey, we cheap" any further.
It sucks, but "leather jacket man" is gonna push prices even more.

And AMD isn't going to gain shite for market share if they follow him up. Right or wrong, the market has spoken loud and clear that it's willing to pay a 10-20% premium for Nvidia GPUs at the same raw rasterization performance in return for the superior feature set (RT, DLSS, etc). After climbing steadily, AMD's GPU market share has been collapsing over the last couple of years. I don't understand how they view the current tack as acceptable.
AMD's CPUs currently seem a little better placed, but with Intel waking up from years of pathetic slumber, AMD could start to face serious pressure on both fronts, with Intel starting to sneak up on the GPU front as well.

On a good note, 4080's and 4070ti's are "cheap" and available.
Good. Leather jacket man needs another punch to the gut.
Edit: fixed.

"Cheap" is relative. Those motherfrickers are overpriced as shite, even at MSRP

Yeah those days are long gone, although I've seen nothing but positivity about the 3D chip prices today. I expected $100 more each as did most so that's nice.
$449 for a 7800X3D is a great price for what you are getting, especially when they start to hit some sales in the summer. I imagine these will sell like hotcakes like the 5800X3D.

AMD doesn't really care too much about GPU market share, those cards are made for data centers first and foremost and continue to kill it there as we saw with the earnings report yesterday (42% YoY growth in data center sales). That's just business. Whole lot more money there.
CPU side they definitely care and are in a much more heated battle with Intel there. Luckily for them the 7x3D series is going to put a nice lead on Intel again and then it'll be back to the arms race this fall.
That being said Intel is still really struggling with a disastrous 2022 and another very bleak 2023 forecast.

I don’t have an issue with the price, though I don’t know if I would call it great. It’s a good price, but with the 7700x currently selling for less than $350, $550 for the 7800x3d would have been eye watering. With that said, if it delivers on its promise of being the apex gaming chip, it will obviously sell well at nearly any price. That’s simply how the market treats halo products. See: RTX 4090.
I do have an issue with their holding the 7800x3d for six weeks. And this isn’t me picking on AMD. I would have said the exact same thing about Nvidia releasing the 4090 before the 4080 if the 4080 wasn’t such a pointless disaster in and of itself

I guess they're holding it for the big dummies. A 4090 holder won't give 2 shits.
Not that I agree with that.

It does suck a bit, feel like I've waited forever only for yet another delay.
But that shite won't work on me, $150 for more cores I don't need is not worth.
Plus the early leaks showing the 78 with the same gaming performance as the other two so that extra cache and clock speed doesn't appear to gain anything.

If I’m giving AMD the benefit of the doubt, which I’m not sure they’ve earned, one could argue that they know the demand for the 7800x3d will be significantly higher, so they are holding release to continue stocking up on production. But I don’t actually think that’s the reason

It would be pretty obvious. Can't see the 7900 or 7950 3d doing that much different than the 7800.
You'll get the "I must have the current thing" andies. buying those things.

That’s because the higher clocks are only on the secondary CCD without the extra cache. The 7950x3d CCD with the 3D cache isn’t going to clock much, if any, higher than the 7800x3d. For gaming, the 7800x3d is clearly the chip to get. The other two only make sense if you’re doing heavy production and also sometimes game on the same system.

Yep, unless you absolutely need more cores for work or something. Otherwise just have some patience and wait a bit longer.

Yep. My 4770k has lasted this long, it can last another several months.

Although, I do need to replace...

AMD is ‘undershipping’ chips to keep CPU, GPU prices elevated This also came out today so.
This has been known for a while, for both companies. Nvidia has been accused of flat out stopping production of the 3080 to prop up their other skus, which they would then trickle out. frickery from both companies, unfortunately.
