Rip. What about mining with this 3070 when I'm not using it? Then eventually when I get a 3080, I could put it in the old machine to replace the 970.

Can you mine in the off hours or does it need to run all the time?

Mining has just destroyed the video card market for a while now, whenever the next crash/selloff is will be a great time to stock up on some GPUs.

After looking up more and more on mining, interested in maybe buying up a bunch of GPUs during the next selloff and setting up at least 1 dedicated mining rig for shits and giggles. Old roommate and I back in 2013 had a small rig (2 cards) setup mining dogecoin and litecoin. Getting a little more into it these days and almost feel like I should keep my 5700XT gaming rig on mining for the hell of it and make a few bucks every day in meantime.

Best buy just had another drop for 30xx founders cards just now. Got in after 2 minutes and they were all already sold out

Yeah i just struck out, tried every card imaginable! Got them in my cart for them to sellout by checkout.

Now I'm literally buying the same card UltimateHog bought for 750$ for 1300$. I hate it, but I'm tired of waiting. I was going to pay the scalpers 1750$ for an ASUS ROG 6800XT, this seems like a nice compromise.

ETA: I wouldnt do it, but kid has the receipt, and waited at microcenter from 4am-10am just for it to not fit his build.

I think the bots figured out how to get all the supply from BB now. I added to cart immediately before the bot trackers sent out notifications expecting a drop today and didn't get shite.

Yeah I tried today for the hell of it, and in the past it allowed me to add it to the cart but have to stay on the wait page.

Today everything was fricking gone in 2 seconds

how many of you guys are crypto miners? i'm trying out the nicehash method and i do have my afterburner settings set right (except for the core voltage because it's grayed out / not sure how to ungray it).

according to nicehash, my gpu overheats nearly every 10 seconds and is put on a cooldown. is that normal for something like that to happen so often?

I use phoenix miner on my 3090 for Ethereum, been cranking out about .01 per day or so. Get about $80 every 5 days or so.
