There's not a song I skip on it. Just incredible. The mood of it is what I want in everything. Jar of Flies is no slouch either. No Excuses is probably my favorite Alice song.

Alice in Chains helped me find sobriety in 2014. Isn't that a crazy statement?

Something about Layne's voice, esp live sessions, helped me push through the first 30 days. I wasn't a big Alice in Chains fan before or after that period, but it helped me find strength.

I don't think so. A lot of the songs are meant to be a warning against drug/alcohol abuse and paint an accurate picture of the darkness and despair that comes along with it.

As I've gotten older, I've gravitated to the more emotional, gritty style.

Unplugged is probably my favorite simply because I believe Layne knew it was almost over. He poured everything into that one and was so appreciative people actually showed up.

Yeah, you are right Bruce. Always felt the same way, the music isn't meant for you to sulk.

I've mentioned Underoath here before, yeah yeah screamo sucks. But the album Define the Great Linesounds angry but the message is Faith (in God or in Yourself). That album is meant to feel as if you are on a journey of Failure to Hopelessness and Abandonment to Perverince.

I remember what really helped bury the relentless hunger of addiction, Layne's bandmates.

During the time I read an article about how Alice in Chains didn't tour for nearly 2yrs. Not because they didn't want to, but they did it for Layne. The group mentioned how being on the road just sent Layne down, quickly.

After reading just a few words, the sight of my family's expressions of disappointment wouldn't leave. I knew it was time for me to do my duty and replay their sacrifices.

Finding sobriety is my proudest achievement.

Same, big time. I guess it's the perspective of realizing that I'm not living forever. The wife refers to my cave as the depression den when I get on the really emotionally heavy shite.

Unplugged is awesome, but it isn't because of Layne IMO. Jerry knocked that shite out of the park. There's an interview out there with Jerry talking about how they hadn't seen him in almost a year and wasn't even sure Layne would show up. If you watch the MTV videos you can see how surprised they are about him not being too fricked up to sing, until Down in a Hole. Jerry carries the rest of the show on vocals after that.

Now I'm watching Unplugged. It makes me sad that really stellar bands don't exist in the main stream anymore.

During Unplugged Layne makes a comment to the audience about playing for them, however it sounded as if Layne believed it was only a few weeks. Someone should from the group, "Layne it's been over a year".

Yes! It's crazy he made it another 6 years after this show. True story, my friends and I were at lunch and my friend Jeff said "I wonder where Layne Staley has been?"

Layne was reported dead the next day.

That's why I pack on the carbs with excessive amounts of beer. Can't be too careful.

Got soo bored last night I made, for the first time, sugar cookies from strach. Just wanted use a cookie cutter, which I have never until last night.

We don't have one of those "wooden dough rollers. But solved the problem by cutting a 12" wooden dowel, sanded and applied butcher block was.

After baking cookies, still bored. I began going through old PC parts, found an old WD VeloceRaptor 10K RPM 500GB HDD. Decided to put that thing in my old security camera DVR.

Was shocked that the HDD even spun, much less performed well in playback. It is quicker in playback than my new 4K NVR.

IDK wth I will do with it, but since the playback is so responsive now while scrubbing, it would be perfect survicing a hightraffic camera.

Forgive me Sir.

Maybe I should gift it to one of my sisters?

The tree or the quilt with the oddly conspicuous hole in it?
