UH, do you remember what your vega 56 firestrike ultra scores were?
I finally got around to benchmarking my HTPC (finally installed that vega 64). Here are my results:
Total: 5270
Graphics Score: 5463
Physics (i5 8500): 12018
Combined: 2503

Seems low yeah when the old 7700K was pulling 15K.
My best graphics score with it was 23,144.

hey, you guys know where i can get an IT certification?
CompTIA. Have fun working at a help desk for 5 years making $15 an hour, at most.
Where you live plays a pretty big role in if it's viable also.

thanks for that. everything i've googled has led me to them.
a local community college has an associates degree program for CIS. i'm curious if that will better my chances. it's the same school i got my drafting degree from. if i decide to go that route, hopefully some of my credits will transfer.

It will x100000. I would do that before getting into any sort of certs

Specialize in something. Cisco certs seem like they actually have quite a bit of value. I've thought about getting some just to have them on my resume.

found out they offer 3 different specialists:
Microcomputer Specialist
Software Development
Cyber Security

Sight unseen, I would go security for sure.

Crawled around my attic on Sunday, boy was that fricking miserable.
12ft ceilings leave around 2ft of crawl space and trying to navigate the A/C. Got my 2 APs and 1 of the 3 cameras installed.
Those Ubiquiti APs have some serious range

And it gets destroyed by the 3900X.
And that's not even the 3rd gen Threadripper yet.

A 9700K is $299 now at Microcenter, to get the privilege of Intel turning on SMT for a 9900K and 16 threads, it's a $150 tax, at $449
That's kind of ridiculous.
9700K is just going to be obsolete so much faster with only 8 threads. Great gaming CPU now but games will be taking advantage of 12 and 16 and even more threads over the coming years.

Probably never.
The 9700K is a binned down 9900K. It didn't meet spec(s) for whatever reason. So enabling HT would require higher voltages or lower clocks.

Its not terrible, just too many numbers which don't roll off the tongue.
I understand they wanted to keep with series number in front, that is fine. But the X and XE and non K and numbers that aren't pretty within the English language makes it a fckking mouth full.
Like say, "Cellar Door"
Edt: I also hate how the marketing team has such an influence on naming conventions with core components/features.
Example, AMD and Gamecahche is confusing and stupid. L3 is L3. Now Intel has "Smartcache" which is fine because its not describing a certain part. Smartcache is just a name to describe the implementation of a certain shared cache system.
I wonder if ppl who don't know actually think they are the same things between the two companies just different names. Which they totally aren't.

Intel still has no answers. Their new HEDT lineup can't even beat the 3900X or the 3950X. They had to compare it to last years AMD offerings.
And that's not even taking into account the upcoming Threadripper which smashes it even more.
Over 80% of cpus sold are AMD. What a time.
