Lol
Not what I meant. I just meant a good set of cans. I have a pair of DT990s I paid like $600 for back in 2011 with Schtt Modi/Vali IIs for I think $300 amp/dac. The DT990s are low ohms, and also cheaper now. They aren't regular DT990s, whatever drivers are in them is a little different than the base model.
Also use a pair of Sony Bluetooth can that aren't too bad when I just want something comfortable.

Audio Technica ATH 40x for Closed back/ PHillips SHP9500s for open back. Vmoda BoomMic Pro for mic
I have the open back Phillips SHP9500s and love them. They do bleed out a ton of sound though.

$600? Really?
Yeah $530 or something was the exact price.
I mean I paid $1Kx2 before $1K where really a thing. That was the heart of PC gaming for me. The rig I have I spent $350x2 for RADs. Final build was close to $8K and that was 2012-2013 prices. Point is good shtt like good cans will last you a decade. Unless you want some type of new tech that is released.
Not saying go crazy, sorry should ha e explained more. Putting $200 on a decent set which are comfortable with good drivers is worth it.
TBH, headphones have approved in quality across the board. A $150-$200 set is just as good as a $400 set 5-7yrs ago.

Send your Strava info to my email. Start viewing my rides. We are doing a cool one Friday night through the cane fields, levees and such.
This is my morning warmup in the subdivision. Ignore the time, pace was like 18-20. I got the start button before I even get out the house. That is an annoying thing about phone. No time trials. Point is, send me your info.

I like Audio Technica stuff. Even though they haven't slightly kept up with others over the years.
My mic is an AT-something something. Condenser mic.

Those 40's are a good buy at around 75-80.
I also have an Audio Technica ATR2100 Dynamic mic that is amazing.

My Anne Pro 2 board is not working right now. It isn't turning on and I don't see it popping up on the PC. I know it's charging because the battery pack in the keyboard for bluetooth is warm. Think it could be a bad connector or do you think the PCB is bad?
I only run it wired though.

I'm still rocking the Sennheiser 650's with the Schiit stack Vali 2/Modi 3. I forget the tube I swapped out to off the top of my head a few months back and was a big improvement.

The Massdrop Sennheiser Jubilee 58x is supposed to be a great set for 150. I just don't like the connectors. Wish it was more versatile.

I had the Vali 1 but hated the fact your tubes went bad and you had to send into Schiit. Before the Vali I used the tried and true Modi/Magni combo.

Massdrop always has pretty high quality sets for sale.
Good recommendation.

Yeah I grabbed the 3 when it dropped a few months back and sold my 2.
TubeDepo for the tube options and I went with the JJ gold pin with matched and balanced triodes.

There is no reason for me to upgrade the DAC.
I just upgraded for 1 because the first Modi only did 96 bitrate.

I wanted the switch on the front to shut off the light.
Was the original Vali not a tube amp?
I don't see a tube that you can swap in and out like with the 2?

The new Modi is also powered right?
Doesn't use nasty USB power. Or I'm mistaken?

No it was tubes. But you couldn't change. They would start getting bad around 1500hrs.
It was soldered onto the board. Some hybrid shtt, bad idea imo but was a cheap option back then if you didn't want to pay $400 for a tube amp.

That is worth it imo if you have noisy USB ports.

That's wild.
I didn't find Schiit until the Vali 2 and even with that the stock tube is terrible. Took me a few months to find TubeDepot and buy a nice one and made a world of difference.

Yeah Schiit's own design.
It became too much, my first Vali they sent the tubes or 1 tube went bad within a week. Had to send back.
Luckily I had my old Magni to use until then.
They also promised to change the tubes for free for a lifetime. Guess that quicky became a problem.
Edt: Vali 1 tubes were something like this.
Edt2: You wanna hear something really wild?
There used to be a gaming laptop with a tube amp inside. Think it was ASUS.
