Look at your B450 Tomahawk manual. Should tell you the steps.

i don't have it in yet, but a quick google search sent me to reddit. does this sound familiar?

Yes, that seems reasonable.

alright, it looks like the 3600x is going to be the cpu choice.
but i'm still not sure on a GPU. it sounds like the base 5700 isn't worth it. someone on youtube said it was a "salvage" part due to defects in the silicon.

eta: i know i can't wait, but if i do wait, it appears that a vega 64 will be the better value once those prices begin to drop.
i'll mostly be playing Modern Warfare once it releases. most games usually perform better being ran on nvidia or amd. is this true? if so, what does CoD usually run better on for PC?

Your decision, but if I was in your spot, I'd go with the 3700x.
Posted on 7/7/19 at 2:41 pm to boXerrumble
that's another $80
eta: newegg is already out of stock.

I mean you mentioned you want the highest FPS when you game and you want to stream...
Posted on 7/7/19 at 2:47 pm to boXerrumble
yeah, i keep thinking about that, but i do have a separate computer for streaming if i need it. i may be giving it up anyway. i always stream for 0 viewers.

My i5 8400 is basically equal to a 3900X in gaming still.

just pulled the trigger on the 3600x. now i need to decide on a gpu. nvidia for ray tracing or amd for "more" fps.

If Staples honors that, that is a heck of a deal.

Nevermind. 2080 Super isn't out yet.

some of the comments are saying that staples is cancelling some of the orders. whether or not its because of the huge discount or inventory levels has yet to be determined.

2070 Super is close enough and $499.

Posted on 7/7/19 at 4:37 pm to Korin
I still say the best value right now is if you can get a decent condition 1080ti that hasn't been mined on.
Posted on 7/7/19 at 4:38 pm to boXerrumble
Eh, a used one is still almost $500 and that's the same as a new 2070 S.
Posted on 7/7/19 at 4:42 pm to finchmeister08
5700XT for the money for sure. Beats 2070 Super in about half the games for $100 less.

How big of a deal is the thermal issues and fan blowing noise are these new Navi cards? I’m trying to debate if I should buy one now or later. I know the 3rd party cards by MSI and ASUS are going to be more than the base cards.
I’ve actually been considering the 5700 because the performance difference isn’t that much.
