Found a video of this guy made from his current build. It starts off with him sopping up cooling fluid off a graphics card.

Please tell me that isn't a 1070

That guy is a jackass. I've done hard and soft tubing water cooled builds for years. It is extremely difficult to fckk up that bad.

He must have just jammed the hard tubing into the fitting and it rolled the gasket. Still difficult to do even being careless.

Nvidia actually had the 1080 Ti in stock at MSRP.

And the 1080 for only $50 above MSRP.

Nice.

The 1070s and 1080s will fall real hard second market. 1080tis with unfortunately still retain their value since it's the top consumer card on the market

Is the new Surface Book 2 13.5" with i7-8650U + GTX1050 worth it?

Kind of tired of waiting and they are $200 off this weekend.

$1799, a bit more than I wanted to spend but if worth it I don't mind.

This review may have sold me on it

What do you expect to do with it? I just sold a laptop with a 1060 and another with a 1050 Ti. The 1050 Ti felt like the absolute minimal for gaming. As a work laptop/personal use it looks awesome. My current work laptop comes with the 8550U which is great. I also love our Surface Pro with last year's shtty dual core. We love it, but it lags sometimes in browsing.

The build on those Surface devices rival Apple's offering in terms of quality. IMO they have better keyboards (Surface Book and Surface Laptop).

What does suck is the price for upgrading from 8GB to 16GB. I mean wtf, $500 bucks? This is the reason we purchased the SO's Surface Pro with just 4GB. She is using it for school only. But going up to 8GB was like $350 bucks more at the time. Not worth it when you already have to add the price for keyboard ($150) and pen ($80). Those things don't come standard anymore.

For what I would need that laptop for it needs more than 8GB. I stay around 6GB-9.5GB depending on what tool I'm utilizing at the time. Esp since I run some standalone DBs on my PC. If I have multiple projects open it can get become a resource hog.

I'll use it more as a tablet with the occasional light gaming from bed. 1050 is fine for what I would want to play on it in bed (League, CSGO, Battalion).

It's lighter as a tablet by a lot over an XPS 13 2in1 or 13" HP Spectre x360 while also offering more docked across the board.

Seems like the best win win 2 in 1 out there. Not to mention a great design and great reviews. Just also quite a bit more expensive $1300 versus $1800 and that's on sale.

Agree. That price just throws me off for a 1050. I would be interested in the acoustics but this probably doesn't matter since you will no doubt game with headphones. Can also tell you that the Surface Pro @ 12.3" feel a bit too heavy as a tablet for most things. Now it could be the lack of a case on the Surface Pro that makes us too scared to use it in tablet mode a ton. We have given it some thought. So we just use an iPad for most "tablet" things because that SoB has a case.

Edt: Further reading on the 13" Surface Book 2 vs Surface Pro display I thought they had the same display at 12.3". If you read further the display on the 13.5" Surface Book 2 is 12.3" and Surface Pro 11.5". The 15" Surface Book 2 has a 13.5" display. That isn't too much of a jump up in size making it extremely portable.

I just took a few comparison shots for you with what I have in the house right now. My current Inspiron with a 15.6" doesn't seem large like most 15" laptops. Maybe you might consider the 15" Surface Book 2. Forgive the terrible quality. Quick snaps from my desk. It has terrible overhead lighting.

Surface Pro 12.3" vs Dell Inspiron 7573 2-in-1 15.6"

Dell Latitude 7490 14.1" vs Dell Inspiron 7573 2-in-1 15.6"

Dell Inspiron 7567 15.6" vs Dell Inspiron 7573 2-in-1 15.6"

Dell Chromebook 13" vs Dell Inspiron 7573 2-in-1 15.6"

Jesus.

I really want 13". If I was going to go up to 15" range I would just wait until mid-March and get the new Dell XPS 15" 2in1 with the Intel+Vega inside.

Those things are also 4.8 pounds versus the 13" version at 2.8 and the Surface Book 2 as a tablet at 1.8.

Just saying I felt the same until recently. A 1060 is leagues ahead of a 1050. But at a premium price in the Surface Book line.

Trying to be informative. Have a little experience with using a lot of devices. Just my thoughts on the current situation. Probably 1.5yrs ago I would have said the same thing. Might still say the same thing, esp outside of gaming. The 1060 would be a totally different world compared the 1050. So want to make sure form factor isn't such a deciding factor when they are so close in size.

I'm excited about the XPS 15. Might be getting one depending on pricing. If it costs $2K+ for a 16GB version then it is a no go. Pending the RAM being soldered. Not certain if we have confirmation on that yet.

Gotcha. Thought the Surface Book 2 was closer to 3.5lbs with keyboard.
