Yeah but you have to understand you're at the far far extreme side of things.
I'm still very happy with my Fury X which is a 980ti.
I'll never do what you do I don't play enough on PC and not demanding enough to warrant that. I want a CPU and single GPU to last me 2 years or so and both must be cost effective and at or near the top of price/performance.
The average 80% of consumers have under $300 GPUs. Just kind of how it is.
I still get the majority of my games on PS4 and prefer it. Realistically I play 2-3 PC games regularly and they're only on PC and that's it.

Really you can get by with CPUs at 4yrs. Hell if it wasn't for motherboards which die, ppl could probably still use Sandy Bridges.
Edt: Sanday Bridges are 2011 actaully. So 6yrs
What a fckking leap. I purchased a 21.5" iMac at that time and returned within 1 week. Wasn't aware of the Sandy Bridge refresh when purchasing. The good thing is, got a GPU bump also. It was a must to return/exchange for the newer model. Good luck I was within Apple's window.

Actually don't play many games anymore. Finished 1 game since last summer in Dishonored 2. My Switch got the most use by far in the last 2yrs. Most of time is spent doing other things or working, which is very disappointing.
But I like to upgrade just as a hobby really. It is fun.

Yep I may keep 7700K for 2-3 more we'll see if Coffee Lake provides a legit IPC jump or not. If so I'll probably upgrade.
iMac? Gross. It is cool they got first dibbs on Vega for their new ones even if it does lead to shortages. I'm sure it was worth it for AMD.

Yeah that's pretty much me. H1Z1 and a little PUBG outside of my usual MOBAs and that's it for me.

I can tell...buying a 1K CPU for shits and gigs.

Yea no doubt you should. Only reason I upgraded from my 4930K was motherboard issues.

Macs are alright. I don't own any now, but back then they made the best laptops and always wanted an iMac.

No I need the PCIe lanes and I hate this Broadwell. It clocks like shtt. I'm limited to 4.3 ATM.

Yeah seems like the i9's sweet spot is 4.6 and the gold chips 4.8, decent improvement if that holds true for the 10 core+.
What do you really need more lanes for though? You going to 3 GPU's? I didn't think you were limited at all right now or are you planning to alter your build that will require more down the road?

My 4930K hit 4.6 new and stayed at 4.5 for years until its last year, was only stable around 4.4
This fckking Broadwell.. garbage. I have to put my memory below 2666 to hit 4.3-4.4, what was the point of 3000 Dominators then? Terrible memory controller.

2xGPUs is 32. They don't offer anything over 28. Then you count x4 for M.2 drives. I have 2 right now, that is x8.
Edt: Yes x16/x16 vs x8/x8 does have huge DR. But in the future it might not, its starting to show right now with 4K benchmarks.

I see, so are you also planning on going to 4K soonish?

I've been 4K since last summer. September I bought some CrossOver Koreans.
Just picked up my 2nd 4K TV for the apartment. No HDR, fckk that price gap. I'll just experience HDR when im home on weekends.

Ah, yeah I meant like full featured 4K. GSync, HDR, 100Hz+ etc.

If the prices come down on monitors. I had GSync before, I hate most of the panels. Can't stand anti-glare on a screen.
HDR >>> 4K if upgrading from 1440 as you would probably agree. But fckk, im not paying 1-1.2K for a monitor when the HDR standard is still being standardized.
HDR Premium and HDR Pro.. and that other HDR standard, man it is a mess right now.

My Koreans have always OC'd well. I can get close enough to 90hz which I like. Right now they are set at 75hz and believe might have more room but scared to push them.

Absolutely, that's why I'm getting the new Samsung when it drops next month, 1440 10 bit with HDR > 4K no HDR 8 bit. I'm sticking with the QHD, curved, HDR, 144Hz for the foreseeable future until 4K panels with those features aren't more expensive than my damn TV.

Hmm, HDR10 and Dolby Vision are the 2 standards. Samsung calls theirs HDR10 Premium just to have a different name, it's still the same HDR10 format standard. LG uses HDR Pro for their naming sake but it is also still the same HDR10 standard format, but they also offer Dolby Vision.
It's mostly your typical scummy company thing of trying to trick unknowing consumers into thinking they are getting something they are not. The HDR10 standard requires a 10 bit panel, if it doesn't have one, it's not real HDR and the naming scheme is there to trick you.

I would agree. We have a new 12bit standard coming which i'm more excited about than 4K itself.

You know I thought so. The guy at Wal-Mart(kid) was telling me this shtt. I was like damn, didn't know. Thought we decided on a standard.
Was actually about to post the interaction in my truck after buying the TV. But it was almost 6 this past Monday and LSU was coming on, so needed to rush home.

Not surprising then.
I hate that shite so much though, it is so damn scummy. Hey here are 3 different TV's, this one has HDR Pro, this one HDR Premium, this one HDR Super, 2 of those 3 are actually HDR10 meaning real HDR, better hope you pick right! Good luck.
As if the average consumer is going to know or have any real idea what is what.
But that is how they tend to sell the lower end models, oh wow look this one has HDR for half the price of that one!! Yeah, about that...

Yeah its super confusing to even ppl like us who keep up with it. It is all over consumer electronics. Makes you 2nd guess and question shtt.

It's pretty ridiculous, and not the slight bit surprising. Nothing like tricking consumers into buying your lower end models thinking they got something they actually did not.
Shouldn't be allowed.

Listening to PCPer's podcast from last night. IDK man this VEGA stuff..
They are claiming +/- 10% of a 1080 not 1080 Ti. IDK. But they are just seeing the leaks. Their card comes in today.
Edt: They did say overclocked 1080, so idk.

I mean there are already numerous benches from the Frontier Edition out there, all beat the 1080.
RX Vega will be quite a step up in performance from the Frontier Edition workstation card.
The Nvidia Quadro P5000 scores 4952 right inbetween the 1070 and 1080, at double the price.
