well that answered my question.
i just need to stick with getting the best cards rather than two lower tier cards.
if i wanted to run two monitors, for example, 1 gaming while the other has internet running or something...what do i need to be concerned about hardware wise? RAM? ive got an AMD 8core 4.0ghz processor

RAM is probably the bigger concern, or just resources in general. The reason I have 16GB is I tend to keep a lot of shite open and don't want to close all my tabs just to play a game. I often play some mindless FPS on mute while I have netflix or youtube going on my other monitor.

i've got one stick of 8gb RAM, i may get another stick later on.
thanks

So I fire up the PC this afternoon and it's running unreal slow...check CPUZ and my 7700K shows 800MHz clock speed.
It then blue screens, so I reboot into bios and reset to default. Now it's running the PC repair shite but once again it's going in super slow motion like it's at 800MHz again so this has taken 15 minutes already.
I think my 7700K may be dying or I got some random bug. Wasn't on PC last night, haven't downloaded anything lately or touched any settings PC or Bios wise in months.
May be getting a 7800X after all.

Sooo... several things and probably not your CPU.
1. PSU
2. Corrupted MOBO BIOS
3. Windows issue(Re-Install)
Edt: I would start with reflashing the MOBO BIOS then look at PSU.
Also take out your BIOS battery on the motherboard and unplug for PSU to drain all stored BIOS.

Yeah if it ever finishes this damn restore I can troubleshoot a bit.
I did notice a new bios was posted, first one since like Nov 2016 so will try it first.

Did you have a power lost or quick shutdown?
BIOS can get corrupted pretty easily in those situations.

Not that I'm aware of. It did storm yesterday but I wasn't home.

I had my old 4930K stay locked on only utilizing 1-2cores. Thought half of it died. But CPUs are pretty hard to kill.
Turns out, MOBO issues. It is usually PSU or MOBO issues and not the CPU.

Used the laptop to put latest bios on usb stick...flashing now.
ETA: now it just sits at the MSI splash screen does nothing and reboots. I think the mobo is toast. Wait there it goes back into bios and showing correct default values.

Cross fingers.
Have a PSU tester? They sale them cheap on Amazon. Also if the BIOS flash doesn't work, it still does not mean its the CPU. Could be power delivery on the MOBO.

Bios is showing cpu temp of 100C so I think the Corsair H100 died.

lol
Yeah, that is your issue. 102C the PC will shut off.
It is keeping it running by throttling right now.
Edt: I didn't list that issue because thought you would have noticed. But yeah its something easy to overlook.

Luckily I kept my H80 so easy to swap and check.

Yeah I know you usually sell but it is always good to keep spare parts. You will always have shtt like this and need to trouble shoot, or quick fix like this until you can get a replacement.

Yeah, I resell if it's worthwhile. Used H80 was no point and sure glad about that now.
Back up and running smooth.

Yeah I think my PSU is going out. When playing games I hear a faint clicking sound coming either from the PSU or the HD (hard to tell since they are next to each other). It seems to happen on any demanding game that requires hard drive traffic. System either blue screens or completely shuts down after some time.
I'm thinking it's the PSU not supplying enough power to the hard drive causing it to turn on and off. Only way I could really test this would be with a voltmeter that I don't own.

How long do we think prices will stay high due to mining?
