Congrats on landing an interview.
Always interesting to me that they have these companies out there. Just because it is so much fun to build your own PC. To me it's like paying someone to build your Lego set.
So this company is out of Jackson?
Crazy.
Edt: sorry I meant to ask where the company is located.

Yeah I feel the same but some people just don't have time or patience to build I think. I get it. But still, would be great to actually make a paycheck on my hobby.

Yeah I totally understand.

Yeah, they still exist, and it's surprising some of the local ones are sustainable without their bread and butter being phone/tablet repair, or like the one around here operating as an authorized AT&T/Verizon/Whatever dealer.
The companies like Puget Systems, though, have a real purpose. It's the type of company I'd like to own. Real experts who don't sell one-size-fits-all machines, or ones that cut corners wherever possible, with poor support, etc. (like ibuypower cyberwhatever).

Yeah these guys try to do a little bit of everything, phone repair, data shite and web design but from my conversation with the owner it seems doing PC's is their main thing.

I would love to do this, just seems hard to make good money unless you specialize in one of those fields within the industry.
Edt: I've thought about repairing PCs in my younger days but shtt the market is flooded. Even here in Thibodaux.

If I get the titan x can I replace the stock cooler? Read that stock titan x cooler causes thermal throttling and it looks to be the same cooler.

Yeah no doubt. Buy one of the after market cooler options.
...or put a WB on it. Honestly that's what you should do.
Edt: the throttling is a problem with nVidia's strict TDP limits. A custom VBIOS will most likey be released by some forum poster within the same launch week which fixes the issue.
I always buy a pair of cards for SLi and blocks for the main rig. This card might be enough to go single for a while. Crazy thing is, this card + 1 block is a lot cheaper than the normal 2 cards + 2 blocks.

I want to go sli but I can't justify the purchase if I can't even display 4k over 60 frames anyway.

With 2 you could hit over 60. I personally care about nice panels and resolution with all the latest tech like HDR.

Also since I expect this card to sell out in minutes when is it going to be available for order?
Posted on 7/22/16 at 2:45 pm to LSUSaintsHornets
My experience, you will need to purchase on eBay or Amazon at a mark up. The 1080s are still hot off the shelves at 700-800. So expect to pay 1300 at less for this card at launch.

I'm in total gridlock, because I don't want to spend thousands of dollars just yet. If I upgrade cards, I'll need to go 4K as well. But I also might upgrade my Nexus 6. I also need a new laptop. Gotta prioritize.

Just join the HBM2 waiting lounge, it's a nice comfortable temperature in here.

Yeah, I won't be buying anything but HBM2. Just a matter of when. I've been gaming far less lately, so I may just take these 980s into Q4 2017.

I feel the same way a little. Especially since I will be in Corpus Christi until December and no HBM2 on GP102.
But..
How much will HBM2 benefit me at 4K? The throughout is a little lower but I'm sure you could bump up against 500MBps with an OC on that RAM.

Probably not that much really, but I've also heard there are games now with mods that can push 12GB, so HBM2 being 16GB and up to 32GB....that's what I want.

but usually you don't need high bandwidth for games with mods, it is more about capacity. Like Skyrim and other open world game mods. This is usually works better just cached. When you load the map/world the data will be cached and stay there and not need to be cycled through.
Games like Rise of the Tomb Raider which need the bandwidth would probably benefit more from HBM. I would think.
Edt: I really want HBM on fckking something. So disappointed the new Small Titan doesn't have HBM2

Aren't most mods quite poor in terms of optimization and that's what really pushes the limits of current 12GB cards? I know some of those Skyrim mods go pretty far and are quite hogs.
Overall though, it's just about having a 32GB HBM2 card. Want. Or even 16GB.
I'll just sit in the waiting lounge however long at this point I think.

Yeah but it's more about optimization in terms that I've just stated. They through everything on the VRAM to be cached because of limited access to the game engine. So to my understanding, once the game loads it's hard to constantly access data without breaking the game. So they have it all cached during the load.
