Believe they are the same chip, no bins brother.
Just comes at a lower stock tdp because lower clocks.
Edt: researching now, so the potential headroom comes in improvements from manufacturing it seems. I could say with certainty the 8320s could hit 4 at 95W under load. A lot of us here years ago ran them in main a secondary rigs. They do however have a hard time going over 4.7.
Edt 2: when I used to stream my 8320 @ 4.5 kept pace with my 4930K in encoding. They aren't the best for benching or games but they work the encoding circuit like James Stewart in the 250cc class.

This is what im referring to. It basically is the same chip, but they seem to handle power consumption a little better than some of the other 8 core FX cpu's once you to start to OC.
quote:
At 4.5 GHz the CPU only needed 1.375 volts for only a +79W power consumption.

Your mileage may vary of course.

I literally don't care about OCing this build because I'm going for straight cheapness, so the board and cooler will likely not make for much OC'ing
I'm trying to get my feet wet back in to PC gaming, which I haven't done in probably a year since I sold off my PC
Edit: I think I'm going to go back to the G3258. I can get that plus a Mobo for under $75

I do wonder if that's under load. Just because one graph shows 4.7 @ around 240W.
That is impressive though to hit 4.5 @ 1.38. Not sure what I kept my 8320 voltage wise at. I know I kept it at 4.5 or 4.6, just don't remember the voltage.
Edt: Blue you still in BR? What Pokemon cards do you have? I have a Gigabyte 990FX UD3 or UD5 in the closet you may want to trade for!
You need ram? Nvm I see you have that.

The more I look into it the more it just seems like there isn't headroom.
LINK
Doesn't seem like the cheap is anymore efficient than the regular 8320. Look at all cores turbo. Thats why it can achieve the top of 95W rating vs 125W for the regular chip. I bet at 4.5 they are drawing nearly the same power. Still looking into it.

My FX 8300 needs 1.45ish to get to 4.5, so that does seem like either the chip OC's better in general, or they have a really good sample.

Yea, ether way 1.38 is great.
What are your north bridge, Mem speeds and timing? That does have relation to mV needed by the CPU.
Edt: I find AMD chips fun to OC. They really take some work. IO speeds, NB, controller speeds.. they really need to find a good harmony. Also MOBOs play a huge part. Not many 990FX boards have the best power delivery.
Honestly doesn't look like much difference in power consumption.

The 8350s are binned though. But hitting 4.8 w/ 1.38mV should prove 8320s hitting 4.5 w/ 1.38mV if it was OCed correctly, no?
Still looking into though.
Edt2: Thinking I have old screenshots of my 8320 @ 4.6 1.44mV but RAM OCed to 2133 and NB at 1.2mV.
Fckk lol 4.85 w/ 1.512mV
That was also because I believe RAM was OCed to 2133 or 2400. Very fast for that chip.

Using a 1.375 V CPU voltage and a 1.175 V northbridge voltage, I was able to get FX-8350 running stably at 4.8 GHz under full load. In the screen capture above, I'm running a single-threaded test to spin the chip up, but the highlighted maximum temperature is where our benchmark suite peaked.

Lure of a 1080 card is pulling me. Which one? Does it make sense to pay a little more for a Founders Edition?
I'm Team Green so no calls for Red please.

FE is disgusting and no difference.
Wait for GP102 or GP100 brother.

Thanks. I'm running two 780ti Classifieds in SLI so I'm not in dire need. It's that darned upgrade bug that hits every once in a while.
Posted on 7/21/16 at 12:44 pm to VABuckeye
I know, hear ya. Srry I keep thinking you have 980 Tis in SLi also.
But regardless with low stock and the rumored soft launch 3 weeks away for GP100, I would just wait.

Corpus Christi... how much does this place suck? Stout you have been everywhere, your opinion?
My trips to Dallas once a month are coming to an end. I'm getting put on a 6month project in Corpus Christi. Sort of not too excited about this.
Will build a travel rig with maybe a Fury if they are still on sale for $279.

Corpus Christi is pretty cool if you're into beach towns. Better beaches than Galveston just not as much to do. Also not too far away from San Antonio if that interests you.

I'm into fishing only being 25miles from the gulf all my life. Just it looks like the middle of no where. This will be my first extended outside of town work. I've been lucky to stay around BR but also took this position knowing travel would be involved.

You will appreciate this then, a guy at work just got back from TX fishing and this was lunch today. Red Snapper caught just two days ago.

Congrats to AMD for officially posting a revenue increase for the first time since 2Q 2014.
When you got in at around 25% >>>>>

Analysts had projected a net loss of 10 cents a share. Sales climbed 9 percent.

Snapper is the damn best. Nothing better IMO.

I like Grouper more but I know I'm in the minority, just grew up on it.
Posted on 7/21/16 at 6:47 pm to GalvoAg
I guess since I eat grouper so much throughout the year, snapper is welcomed.
