Stick to the easier courses for sure starting off. I know you're very anti controller, but it makes a world of a difference using one

Yeah it takes a bit to get the hang of how everything plays, wind, green speed and the putting grid are the toughest.
Make sure you start using loft when needed, that's how you use backspin/topspin on the game and it makes a whale of a difference.

I'm not anti-controller. I just seldom need one, but I recognize their superiority in racing and fighting games for sure. I didn't read anything about this game so I wasn't aware it would be controller friendly. No tutorials in-game, so I just kind of figured out that you need to use the mouse. I guess a controller helps you hit straight every time? With the mouse (or with my current skill level), slices seem random and putting is guesswork at best.
Completed my first 5 rounds. Handicap 22.5

FOR SURE. I feel like it's a much better forward/back motion with the controller.

I played 2 mediums and 3 easy. My last round is what screwed me. I finished at +50 because I basically gave up

Yup, I couldn't play it with a mouse, was so hard I was slicing shots constantly.
