Well exactly. I wasn't going to pay the money for an i7 4xxx + z87 mobo. Most of my last build lasted me 6 years with only a video card and monitor upgrade. Then my motherboard imploded a few weeks ago, taking my HDs with it.
So I've got what I assume is a pefectly fine core 2 duo 2.0ghz allendale, 4 gb of skill ddr2 ram just sitting here. Thinking about making an emulator box for my kid, but the mother boards available for socket 775 are as almost as expensive as my Asrock mobo I just bought. Might try to snipe some cheap parts off of Ebay.

If you were worried about an upgrade path then you should have went with Amd and got something like the fx 6350 and had more power and better overclockability and the certainty of knowing that you're set up for at least the next two generations.

So I just got fricked....HARD
NBD I guess because I already got it taken care of and am sending the shite back. Will get my money back from Paypal in a day or two as well.
That awesome order I won with the 680 and 670 in it was a fricking lie!!
In the 680 box was a fricking 650. Not even a GD 650Ti. I knew it felt light when I grabbed it out of the shipping box.
In the 670 box was a GTX285 that was so mangled I had to find the serial number to determine what it was so I could file it on my dispute. I had hope for it because it didn't feel lite like the 680.
And last but not least was supposed that cool AM3+ Gigabyte board was some old POS Intel micro atx board. I knew it wasn't right because it came in a little arse cardboard box and sure enough when I opened it there was that little POFS.
Oddly enough the other 20 misc items were all good and in good shape. It had some really good routers in there I was going to sell. Oh well I guess.
Man, that ruins my fricking afternoon!
I am so GD pissed!

On a positive side note I just did my first successful reflow on a video card and it worked great.
I bought it from someone cheap on Ebay because it had graphic glitches on the screen. I reflowed it and it works great now.
Anyone need a 560Ti?
