I think I've decided on my 1st PC build. According to PCpartpicker, i'll have no compatibility issues, and I decided on the ATX Motherboard instead of the B450 so i can avoid a potential BIOS update issue.

We can get you a cheaper W10 key for $30.

W10 Pro Key

The process is trust worthy. I've purchased 4 W10 keys from them over the years.

Also drop the mechanical HDD for maybe an nVME boot drive. Let us do something with your whole storage setup.

Help ya boy out Yote.

I was worried the 512GB wouldnt be large enough to handle the size of today's downloads.

Why are you hating on HDD's? There is no perceivable difference when accessing music, videos, and photos on them.

Why not get a 500-1TB SSD for boot, games, and processing software and HDD for bulk storage for media?

I'm not hating, but yes there is a perceivable difference. Plus you have hardware degradation.

If its a new build, let's start it out right.

Why would you need such a large boot drive? Do you understand the concept?

Jesus.

It is a boot drive.

You right, sort of.

M.2 is just a form factor standard not an interface standard like SATA or nVME.

You probably mean nVME. =)

Edt: but that is the direction I would try to go, if within budget. Might be able to get it there since saving on W10 key.

I updated the parts list... Is that M.2 SSD similar to what you are suggesting with the nVME?

Instead of the 1TB M.2, could i download W10 to a 250 GB M.2- 2280SD and replace the 512 SSD with a 1TB SSD for all other downloads?

1TB SSD = $119.99
250GB M.2 = $48.99

Basically the same cost

I have a 7200RPM 3TB HDD and an Intel 760P NVME, I can not tell the difference when accessing media between the two. I CAN tell the difference when loading up programs, copying, and processing.

Would a single Team MP34 1TB M.2-2280 NVME SSD get the job done instead of two separate drives?

Good choices if the m.2 is nVME

That is more along the lines what I'm thinking.

Wut? You literally said this
quote:

For Boot AND Games AND Processing Software

Games don't go on boot drive, that is media.

Boot drive is for just windows and programs. I do however, keep games I access frequently or have a large data pool. Games that access the drive frequently to load a map. Open world games like ARK and such access the files on a drive a ton.

Download a program like WinDirStat to see what games should be on boot vs media drive.

WinDirStat

But ignore for now, let's not get into the weeds.
